Just saw on the news that the police are now investigating him now, saying he may have committed some kind of hate crime. All getting a bit silly if you ask me.

To make his day worse, the IBF have stripped him too.

Although I agree that he should be a bit more sensible about his comments, he has been saying these things for years and no one batted an eye lid. Suddenly the guy is HW champion of the world and the police investigate it. It is nonsense. He has a right to his beliefs, as stupid as some of them may be. He isn't breaking any laws.

This is exactly what is happening.

David Cameron just misled the house and walked them into killing children in Syria with talk of 70,000 Tory voting, Churchill loving SAS men in Syria and the BBC lead with Fury stripped of IBF belt.

I'm hoping for some balanced editorial from Ben Dirs at some point to counter the guff and bias applied to the reporting of that story.

I don't agree with most of what Fury says but if he says something that annoys me I just wouldn't listen to that interview/his interviews again. Don't get me wrong if his comments were incitement then it might be different but as far as I've read/heard they weren't.

The complaint was made by a former police officer who came out of the closet a while ago. We do live in an age of ‘apology porn’, people cream themselves over getting people to do a public apology then bang on about until the next one comes along. Free speech is usually condoned only if people agree with what is being said, anything else is seized upon.

They were just talking about it on the Wright Stuff, I thought they would jump on the bashing bandwagon but they didn't to be fair, just said he needs some good management/PR peoe around him, can't argue with that to be honest.

No, me either, but I'd imagine that if I were gay, or a woman, I might feel slightly differently.

He's now the heavyweight champion of the world, if he goes around making stupid comments, he's going to draw fire. He needs a P.R team to shut him up, or he will just have to accept the criticism, and possible lawsuits he might incur if he wants to continue down the path he's on.

I know people think it's hyper sensitive, but imagine he was saying 'Well, I don't agree with mixed marriages - people should stick to their own' - I know you might say this is quite an extrapolation, but it isn't really.

I'm not some hypersensitive type, but I do think his comments are offensive, and very ignorant. Sure, it's not a popularity contest, and he is entitled to his beliefs, but if he's a high profile public figure, with a public platform, then nobody can really complain when his comments cause consternation. With the plaudits, come the brickbats.

To try and relate to this better, if these comments were racist instead of sexist/homophobic, I would no longer support Fury, watch his interviews or buy any future PPVs. However I wouldn't even think about starting a petition or reporting him to the police.

The question beneath of course, and proposed by the community from which he comes, is that plaudits didn't come as they should've done or would've done if he'd been a nice, softly spoken type, yes sir, please sir, three bags full sir?

It sharpened the sense of haste with which the brickbats arrived.

Can you imagine Fury posting the sort of rehearsed motivational guff and lightweight platitudes that Joshua posts on social media? Jeez.

Fury is a divisive figure, and I think intentionally so, I don't think it's the fact he's a traveller, though for some who harbour feelings against that community, perhaps it is so. It's early days, let's see how long he reigns for, and what he comes out with during that reign. It's a high profile position, and with that, comes some difficulties.
