Possibly one of the poorest and most ill-informed articles I've ever read.

I stopped reading as soon as she referred to boxing as a 'so-called sport' I don't imagine I'm missing much.

I don't dislike the Guardian as much as most other newspapers, but that is a shockingly poor opinion piece. Should never have been published in its current state; the author should have at least been sent away to do some actual research.

So called journalist?

Personally, I find that article more offensive than anything Fury has spouted.

Should major newspapers really be allowing such awful articles to be published online or otherwise?

These ridiculously poor Tyson Fury articles these papers keep releasing have made me lose even more respect for the British media and I had very little to begin with.

Have they no shame or desire for credibility?

Boxing does exploit working class men, if we lived in a perfect society boxing probably probably wouldn't exist.
I also think working for multi nationals exploits middle class kids.
However they all offer the opportunity for progression in life. Taking away opportunities isn't the answer especially for working class kids who have less options.

I don't think that I like your idea of "perfect".

If we lived in a non violent society where everyone had a chance to be a doctor or politician, I doubt we woul have a call for boxing and it would be difficult to find people to take part.

Read this earlier and it was that poor i couldn't even be arsed to make a comment on it.

No doubt she'll be encouraged to keep writing like this though as it is clickbait just like gifford on the that other boxing website

Her views are as valid as Fury's on christianity. She doesn't offer any better paths for working men who fight though.

How many doctors and politicians do we need?

We generally do live in a non-violent society. Most people find it pretty easy to avoid violence.

A lot of people love boxing. Boxing is generally not a great way out of poverty. Getting a normal job is probably a much better way to do that.

If everyone in the world was a doctor or politician the world would cease to function

I never said it was realistic but if better options were available getting beat up for a living would not be top of people's list.

A lot of people love Jeremy Kyle too but would not want their lifestyles. The majority of boxers come from people with limited options.

You cannot compare other contact sports with boxing. You don't get the hooray Henry's off the rugger pitch wanting to fight for a living.

Fighting is largely a very poor way to make a living.

People generally don't get into boxing for the money.

With your negative views of the sport: why do you even watch it?
