Heard Danny Williams on Radio 5 Live

They spoke to him about the Tyson fight he said all the right words that he
was confident about beating Tyson and that they already had a press conference where Tyson gave him a hug but said not a word to him. To be
honset he didn't sound that confident to me he seemed pretty nervous. The presenter asked him if he was not going to put a well known newspaper on the soils of his boots, which Williams answered in the negative.

Tyson gave him a hug, but didnt say a word.

Bad news for Williams, sound like Tyson wants to hammer him.

Like Tyson never wants to hammer his opponents. It's when they start hammering him that he comes apart. I feel Danny should shoot the jab and really try and assert himself early and keep Tyson off balance. None of this impressive three or four shot cameo followed by a minute of pure laziness crap. Otherwise he'll just get blasted like he did agains Sam.

Wouldn't surprise me if the fight doesn't take place though... Tyson's having back trouble.

Tysons having getting 'back' to 1987 trouble.

I heard he has recruited Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox to his camp now.

It wouldn't surprise me if Williams pulls out any day now.

Why pull out of a fight with Tyson?

I wouldn't fight Tyson for a measly 135k.

Lets face it, both fighters have a bit of a reputation for pulling out of fights. I'll believe it when I'm sat with my glass of red wine and take-away watching them both enter the ring.

I'd certainly be tempted to turn it down, but then again I'm not six two, 18-odd stone, with loads of damn talent. If Williams pulls out, he's a softcock.

Not sure if Williams is more nervous about catching a left hook from Tyson or having to work for three minutes of a round.

I REALLY want him to take and win this one.

I can't see him pulling out for anything other then a legitimate reason. Why not get a hefty pay day, I personallly don't think he's got anywhere else to go.

I can't see the fights with Audley Harrison or Herbie Hide ever coming off. Which, on both accounts is unfortunate, coz I'd like to see both fights. He could go after the British/Commonwealth title again, but why bother? I mean what does he really have to gain by another reign. Who out there on the scene has he not fought besides the two names I mentioned. Who really cares about a Skelton vs Williams fight? All the rest would be rematches. Would you want to see Williams vs Francis 3? Williams vs Sprott 4? Williams vs Long 2? Of course not. He has to move on, and that either means trying to take on the world or at least European scene. And after he got blown out by Sam I can't see him going that far on it. A rematch with Sam may be of interest, but if he loses that again he is absolutely f***ed.

At the end of the day if he gets hammered against Tyson, at least he gets the biggest pay day of his career before finding he has few real options.

I am expecting Williams to call Audley out win, lose or draw. Then he will fight Georgi Kandelaki for the World title :-? .

If Danny shoots that jab out, not holds it out like a feather duster, and cracks Tyson in the mush with it, right from the off, he can win. Tyson has fornicate all left, and apparently all this talk of him being in fantastic shape is pure bollocks, he's looked indifferent in training camp, and has been getting shagged out after 1 round of sparring.

Danny can win, he has all the tools, the most important of which is the jab, but does he have the belief, sadly, I think not, despite knowing Tyson is shot, he will still be in awe of him.

If this fight happens, I can defintely see it going a few rounds. Frans Botha went five with a rusty Tyson before getting caught. Danny should be able to go at least three or four by jabbing and holding. But I don't think he has the mental strength to win it.

I've said this a million times already but it bears repeating.

1 - Tyson is SCH-ER-OTT. And no amount of media bullshit whether its from Chris Evans twin or not is not going to persuade me otherwise.

Reports suggest he hasn't found a DeLorean that goes back in time so we're basically going to see yet another aesthetic looking Tyson physique with no stamina, no game plan, no foot-movement, no head movement and zero combination punching.

2 - The fight boils down to Williams' mental fortitude, which is shaky to say the least. If McDonnell can tighten him up mentally and keep him loose physically he has the tools to be more than competitive. He has to come in south of 245 though.

Williams just has to survive the first two rounds and the horror on Tyson's face on his stool between rounds will be palpable. It just depends whether Williams wants to be a patsy or whether he genuinely wants to capitalise on his ability. WHich in fairness is certainly comparable to peripheral players like Brewster and Barrett.

He's just never put his game together.

Yes David, as you know you're preaching to the converted with most of us.

Tyson struggled with Nielsen and Botha before finding a big punch, and that my friends was 3 years ago. Tyson has certainly deteriorated since then, and has hardly had a competitive fight in the last 3 years, unless you call getting bitch-slapped all around the ring by Lewis competitive.

Another factor which is not being talked about, is how mentally frail Tyson is, and the fact that he doesn't give a fornicate about boxing or training any more, this is merely a money matter. The only thing which might motivate Tyson, is the thought of poverty.

You see I dont buy the motivation factor anymore. Its just another phrase used to mystify and maintain the Tyson aura.

Tyson's lack of competitiveness now is no longer down to JUST a lack of motivation, its down to the fact he's 13 years removed from his prime.

This is a physical thing that runs deeper than motivation. Thats just PR nonsense these days.

Tyson's myth has been exposed, he was SKINT when he fought Lewis, he needed that pay-cheque and one's he could secure after it to clear the decks. He still couldn't be arsed to train/spar etc.

The story is over, the only beauty of this bout is what the remnants of Tyson's tattered reuptation could do for Danny and almost more importantly - what it could do for British boxing if we had an active heavyweight who'd beat Tyson - a fighter everyone in the UK has heard of.

Perhaps then we may have some leverage for TV, for casual fans, for tabloids....Danny Williams has a lot resting on his shoulders. I only wish it was a terrestrial event.

I'm hoping, praying for a Williams win, without being dramatic it could represent one of the few 'get out of jail free' cards British Boxing has left to play.

Yes, you're quite right, even now Tyson's myth is a powerful one, and having a Brit heavyweight who beat him would be a powerful shot in the ass for boxing. We desperately need someone with star quality to emerge soon, before boxing dissapears up it's own fundament.
