Both sides agreed that the fighters will make one more Voluntary defense... Canelo will fight in May and Golovkin probably in February/March(Most Likely)

Now lets discuss potential opponents for canelo (What Weight do you think Canelo will fight?) and for Golovkin.

For GGG most possible opponent is Tureano.. but if Andy Lee wins I think the IBF will allow a unification in May without stripping GGG... Discuss!!

- Lemieux
- Heiland
- Andy Lee/Saunders
- Chris Eubank Jr

Opponents for GGG

- Tureano Johnson
- Andy Lee

if they reached an agreement, why don't we just read what they argeed to when they
announce it today or tomorrow or whatever? lee is definitely next for GGG
if he gets by saunders, and no way GGG agrees to step aside so that canelo
can fight lee/saunders, you can scratch lee off the canelo list now. i would be
happy with eubank or lemiuex for canelo but it's won't be a legit contender.

Why do you think that Lee is definitely next assuming he beats Saunders? I'd be very happy with GGG-Lee but I won't be surprised if GGG fights his mandatory Tureano Johnson instead-even if Lee defeats BJS.

maybe GGG will tell tureano "ok, let's fight in the parking lot right now and get it
over with". it wouldn't interfere with the ggg-lee unification which both fighters
have said repeatedly they want, and lee signed to fight ggg for A LOT less early
last year before winning the wbo. tureano being immediate mandatory for the title

Yea that was a very quick mandatory, usually they have eliminators for #1 and #2 spots, since Okane and Johnson were ranked below the top4 in the IBF rankings...

The agreement isn't even that they fight or how much they split or what the weight is. The agreement is that they each fight someone else before the mandatory status reaches purse bid.

So what is to stop Canelo from backing out after this next fight. From what I can tell, this isn't a situation like kovalev-ward where they have agreed via contrat that they will fight after interim bouts. They are just saying that we aren't going to fight next.

He can back out ofc, it can happen. If that happens there is no way Golovkin allows another voluntary for Canelo, He will be stripped and thats it, end of the story.

Rafael just tweeted that, according to TL, GGG's next fight will be probably be in March/April.

im not convinced that canelo gets past lemiuex or lee to begin with. i doubt gb lets canelo in the ring with ggg within the next three years.
whom ggg faces doesnt really matter. he faced the best mws apart from maybe canelo.
i seriously doubt that canelo will do better any better against ggg than any of his last opponents has. canelo had a hard time with cotto, whom, no disrespect intended, is past it more or less, and struggled against a more or less disabled martinez.

I agree with the Canelo part. There isn't a Ward vs Kovalev contract either, so the chances of Ward fighting Kovalev is lower than Canelo fighting Golovkin, as there is no mandatory situation.

I disagree about Ward/Kovalev.

Yes, it is true that there is no mandatory situation from any sanctioning body
but Sergei has something better- Ward signed to a 3 fight HBO deal that MUST end
with the third fight against Korolev.

Ward/Kovalev will happen, HBO will see to that.

First of all, nobody said that the HBO contract includes binding obligation for Ward to fight Kovalev. It was more like statement of intention.

Also, Ward is good in suing his way out of contracts. Or he could just make unacceptable demands for a purse/ref/venue/etc.

The IBF have just done the exact same thing to Tyson Fury days after winning the belt. They have previous so I wouldn't rule it out.
