It is a terrible irony that Roy Jones who was one of the most intelligent fighters of his generation as well as the most gifted can't see that he is harming himself badly.

now getting ko'd and having so many losses against guys who wouldve not stand a slightest chance back than is just horrible. to me prime roy is the best boxer ever and he is just stupid for still boxing, should have left boxing a long while ago.

lmao Roy wouldn't have let cruiserweight Enzo Maccarinelli stand the slightest chance because he would have demanded the fight at 175 in Pensacola.

Karma doesn't exist, but watching Roy fight on well past his prime and get slept repeatedly fighting outside the country (which he never did in his prime) against precisely the sort of people he avoided fighting in his prime is almost some sort of justice.

He just wants to end his career with a win and I think he deserves it. One thing he shouldn't do is get in with another big puncher like Enzo.

I can understand someone not wanting to go out on a brutal KO, but enough is enough.

Neither Eubank or Calzaghe would have fought him. Michalczewski was as guilty as Jones for not wanting to fight outside his country. Jones did trounce Gonzalez, who ended Michalczewski however. He already beat Hopkins easily. He splattered Malinga who beat Eubank and Benn.

I was frustrated many times by Jones' career decisions but ultimately he beat Bernard Hopkins, James Toney, Virgil Hill and Reggie Johnson easily. That's good enough.

I would love to have see him box Michalczewski when they were both primes. Michalczewski is chronically underrated.

I hope Jones gets a win and packs it in on an high, be won't want to go out on a loss - the crowd and the attention must be like a drug to him.

I would have loved it too. I'm confident a prime Jones would box his ears off, dangerous as DM was. In a packed German stadium it would have looked wonderful, both as a spectacle and on his record.

Me as well. Unfortunately we'll never know now since RJJ opted to fight Taxi Cab Carl instead.

As for Roy fighting on, I feel bad for his brain but the guys has given heart and soul to boxing his entire life. That's the reason so many guys can't step away. Trust me, Roy knows he's a shell of himself, he knows he's taking damage. But he loves the sport and isn't ready to move on yet. Simple as that.

I think it goes without saying that sometimes, fighters need to be protected from themselves. If Nevada, New York and other strict states don't go ahead and revoke Jones license to box, its a shame and a blackeye on the sport. The BBBC needs to come outright and also ban him. If Jones intends on boxing, then he needs to be forced into fighting in third world nations, and maybe he will then get the hint. His time has long since passed. He should have retired following Ruiz and Tarver and that was overt ten years ago. He was "well done" by the time Calzaghe and Hopkins rematch came along. And now, he's incorporating more and more of the rope-a-dope in his fights, and he is flat footed and slow. His reflexes are no more, and quite frankly Jones these days is waiting to land the proverbial lucky punch to end fights.

He said he still has ambitions of being a cruiserweight world champion. Once he's cruiser champion he said he'd walk away.

I don't like the way the governing bodies work but if one gifted him a world title shot against a unworthy opponent I'd probably turn a blind eye.

Hopefully the WBA get him a interim fight against someone useless.

Like Quarry, both are/were intelligent guys who have/had talent as announcers as well.

Well I want to fight every great fighter while I have the chance and I know he has had a lot better years. But I still would like him on my record win or lose I was close to fighting him in his prime but I loss to Prince badi Ajumi and he got the fight with Roy. Roy is a great fighter but well past his best years. If he does continue to fight it is just for the love he surely doesn't need the money.

Come on. One by one:
- yes, he should've fought Dariusz, but DM was as reluctant to make the fight as RJJ. Sure, it would look better if RJJ would "confirm" his belts by directly outpointing DM (most probable score IMO) rather than getting DM stripped by political decisions... but as said, you need two to tango.
- Calzaghe stayed safely at 168 for ages, and moved to 175 only to fight past-prime Hopkins and RJJ.
- he won with Hopkins clearly... then he moved to 175 while Hopkins stayed at 160... on top of this it took Hopkins some time to become great star... who remembers he still entered the fight with Trinidad (2001) as 3-1 underdog?
- I admit I was not following possible fight with Eubank, so if anyone has any comment here, they are welcome.
