I don't understand why Rances is just a -190 favorite here. How does Shafikov overcome the reach and 6 inch height advantage? Seems like a goofed up line but what do I know. Shafikov is a solid fighter but Rances seems to be another level and is sooo much bigger. Explain these odds to me.

How did Mike Tyson overcome the 5 inch height advantage Holmes,Spinks,Bruno,Ruddock had? or the blistering 7 inch height advantage Tony Tucker had?

Thats an idiotic question, its a very hard fight for Shafikov but it doesnt mean there is almost zero chance for him to overcome the height and reach advantage of Bartelemy (BTW I have Bartelemy by UD)

I see your point. He's actually a larger favorite in all my books. Was thinking the same thing but starting to think i'm looking into the Vazquez fight way too much here. I went small on Shafikov. I still favor Rances but, in my opinion, the odds should be closer. Rances seems to throw a lot of arm punches, and i'm hoping Shafikov will be able to get inside on him. Good luck.

Nugaev sucks. Barthélemy is tall, long, fast and skilled. Easy UD.

That's easy to say now that he lost to Shafikov after being the betting favorite.

I'm not disagreeing with you as to who wins (I'm high on Rances). But you asked to hear an explanation of the odds, and apparently you didn't want to get one.

Barthelemy is just too skilled for shafikov.

Shafikov is as tough as they come but Rances should handle him.

Barthelemy far too well schooled for Shafikov surely,although i remember Usmanee giving Rances hell in their fight,Shafikov is kinda similar to Usmanee

He's the bigger man though I also rate Shafikov.

I'm genuinely excited about this fight. Two of the divisions best in a division that's wide open.
Also I think the decision will be relatively close. I'm expecting cards around the 116-112 region.

Shafikov is a good smaller guy who knows how to act small and use that to get the distance reduced. It only doesn't work when his opponent is allowed to hold at will like Vazquez. Barthelemy almost fell into the same trap Nugaev did, but this time it was Shafikov who's face betrayed him and not his opposition. Great fight.

Rances made tougher for himself he could have made it a shutout but decided to bang a bit

When he boxed Shafikov it was a walk in the park.
