Boooring fight....I thought BJS may have blown it down the stretch (though I still had him winning) but he squeaked by with a close MD

Yeah, it wasn't great after all the hype. The right man won though. BJS boxed clever and deserved it

ggg will never be mandatory for wbo unless he fights for some lower level wbo title like the
intercontinental in order to earn a mandatory. after the fight they asked bjs about ggg and
he never even responded to the prospect of a ggg fight. he just said his promoter and manager
will make the decisions, and his promoter mentioned a rematch with eubank. i'm wondering
how much bjs could make fighting eubank and other people on that level in the uk, and if
$1.5mil for ggg would be tempting for him at all. fw is probably worried it would be a career
ender and wants to take his time developing and protecting bjs, especially after matchroom
seems to have become the dominant promoter in the UK.

Good. This spares Lee from getting his head knocked into the 6th row by GGG. He's too nice a guy to take that sort of beating.

without the 3rd round kd's, he loses the fight. he didn't outbox lee.

I had it 115-115. No problem with Saunders taking it on the strength of the only truly decisive round.

Listening to Saunders and Jacobs both talk about being MW World Champion is irritating. Showtime and NBC nearly ignoring the actual MW champ is pathetic.

There's only one champ at 160. GGG would knock them both out in the same night.

maybe it could be a WWE style tag team match, with like all the fake champions
against GGG all at once? this might be the only way to unify the titles.

I scored it 10-7 in favour of Saunders given the 2 knockdowns in r3... i know, i know, it's a 10-pt must system but i just couldn't bring myself to give either any more than 0 for 11 of 12 rounds.

Is it just me or has Lee been super BORING in his last 2 fights?

He was also losing EVERY round to Korobov before he caught the guy. Both Lee and Saunders are B level.

I think Saunders has talent. It just seems like he's oddly unmotivated. Looking at him physically I'm sure his conditioning could improve and with a little effort he could probably make light middleweight -- where he'd be a lot more effective.
If he pulls his socks up he's definitely at level above Lee.

So you're in the camp who just awards champion status to who you think the best fighter in a given division is? Never mind any of that beating the man to be the man nonsense, eh?

And you are in a camp which prefers to close eyes and ears? Didn't you hear Canelo saying that his body isn't ready for 160? Don't you know that his team made everything to avoid his obligation to fight Golovkin next? Is that how champions act?
Re: lee fight

I don't think it's nonsense but it does throw up some champs who are clearly inferior and often there is a blurring between who 'the man' is - eg when a title is vacated. I think Golovkin is the beat at 160 as Cotto and Alvarez have been fighting catch weight bouts.

No, it cant be alvarez if it comes to using your logic. he beat cotto for a vacant mw title in wbc regi.
3g has the ibf, ibo, and wba titles. plus i dont know how many title defences at mw. canelo has none at all, and going throug his record i think there is only one mw fight, which was the fight against cotto.
3g has been willing to fight canelo for ever. so if canelo was THE mw dude. he would have fought 3g and grapped those titles no ?
or is the the wbc higher rated, or a better belt than the others ? this is actually a serious question, as i just dont get where and these arguments are there in the first place ?
i thought that the ibf, wba, wbo and wbc had equal status ?
