after defeat to Billy Joe Saunders, who should Andy Lee face next to get back in the win column?

Wasn't there talk of Matthew Macklin? Not sure if he is staying down at LMW though?

Makes sense for both boxers, no reason not to really.

After that disgusting display of shitbaggery i've absolutely no interest in ever watching Lee or Saunders again.

Go get a decent trainer would'nt be a bad idea , he was NEVER going to outbox Billy his win would of come from a good defence and lots of pressure . He got put down because he forgot about defence and thought he could just land and win .. Lee still has it but not with Booth ,, he needs to go with Callagher and learn about body pressure , keeping the defence tight cutting them off and applying pressure to get in range and let them heavy hands go ... just like Smith did the other night .

Lee needs big fights at this stage and Quillin is where I'd go.

A win puts him right back into the mix and a loss, retirement. There is also unfinished business so an angle to sell the fight.

He'll be seen as a decent opponent for any champion but in reality after last nights piss poor performance he'll be seen as a decent scalp for any up and coming challengers.

Yep. It's a shame as he seems like a great bloke, but that was a truly awful way to lose his title, really did nothing to try to keep hold of it.

I don't agree. He was way taller than Blow Job Saunders and his southpaw jab was effective and he putboxed BJ at times. But he was down three points after getting floored and should've been more assertive.

There was absolutely no passion in his performance. It took him a lifetime of training and sacrifice to win the title and then he does very little, took no risks and allowed his world title to be lost without even a fight. Why on earth would he let himself box like that and why did his corner not wake him up to the reality of the situation? He was too concerned with smiling and tapping gloves at the end of the rounds. Why he threw his hands in the air at the end of the bout is anyone's guess. I've seen boxers give their absolute best and walk through hard punches to get a win for an area title and a 2 grand purse. Shocking display of boxing and he let himself down.

I thought Saunders got it by about 3 points, Lee just didn't give it a go. It was a poor match up where neither really put a lot into it. When Lee got dropped and hurt he fought back but afterwards just seemed to be sleepwalking. Saunders wasn't much better but he didn't get hit and he kept Lee at distance. I can imagine Andy Lee in tears this morning but he just did not turn up on the night.

I had Lee by 2 points, but the wine and Tramadol may have effected my judgement. :KO:

His southpaw jab was effective , but it was'nt winnin g the fight , land a jab occasonaly does'nt win you a world title when you have been dropped twice , He never outboxed BJ at all ,, BJ let him steal points becAUSE HE WAS IN SAFETY MODE AFTER THE FIRST FEW ROUNDS HE KNEW HE WAS UP, AND WAS'NT GOING TO MIX IT AND CHANCE GETTING CAUGHT WITH HEAVY HANDS .. Lee really had to get a move on , and force the fight he had to let his hands go and score some points . it was so lack lustre i don't even think landing would of made a difference just anyone forcingf the fight would of nicked the rnds .. Bad corner work , they should of stuck a bomb up his ass , and told him he was losing get out there and ko him .

totally agree with the comments about bad corner work , Booth knew going into round 10 that he needed a KO to retain the title and asked for just a little more pressure ,if it was me it would be Ronnie Davis slap or mega motivational speech would have been given but I suppose retaining an air of calmness is more proffesional

Lee had a long and distinguished carrier. Its time to hang up the gloves. Way his workrate dropped recently, how cagey and reluctant he is to engage. He doesn't have it him no more in my opinion. His chin is also shot. To get dropped by an absolute non puncher. He needs to retire. Otherwise the next time he gets dropped, he is not getting up and it wont be pretty.

Lee's a counter puncher, he isn't really suited to fighting on the front foot because of how tall he is and the length of his arms. The problem was that Jimmy Tibbs got the gameplan absolutely spot on and Billy Joe stuck to it, Lee couldn't set himself the way he normally does because Saunders kept him off balance with his jab, feints and footwork. If Lee held his feet and tried to throw back he'd have been picked off before he got his own punches away and left hitting thin air as Saunders moved out of range. He waited too long before going for it but to do that he had to completely change the way he normally fights, if he went earlier while he still had a chance of winning on points Saunders could have upped the pace to match him and taken Lee apart as he came forwards, then coasted late on knowing he had a big enough lead to win the fight.

I can't really imagine Booth giving a mega motivational speech, although would have fvcking loved to have heard him do a Teddy Atlas:

“Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.”

A few interesting fights still out there for him, money wise I'd think he's better going back to America surely? He's always value as a challenger in that he can bang, I can't see the BJS fight has done him many favours though in terms of £££ value for his next fight.

maybe a fight with Spike in Ireland or over in the States, winner gets fed to GGG...

Those slating Lee for a lacklustre performance need to firstly give BJS more credit and secondly consider whether the length of camp he had due to the postponement may have taken the edge off him. He's been around a long time and had some tough encounters - it's possible there's not much left in the tank

He's got at most maybe 2 or 3 fights left in him so there's no point in him regrouping with a lesser opponent - he needs title fights or final eliminators. Quillin rematch makes sense.

I hope he doesn't become a gatekeeper but I fear he may

First of all i will say that i don't think Lee will ever beat Saunders , he just does'nt have the skill level .. But what i did say earlier is he needs to learn how to use body pressure , has you said he is a counter puncher , and billy joe is faster and smoother , so by using body pressure he could of forced the fight ,, and forced Bj to throw more

Macklin fight makes sense to me, the weight shouldn't be an issue as both claim they would fight at Middle or Light Middle depending on which opportunities came along.
