Has anyone written to a boxer currently in prison? I was just looking at wiki and Michael Nunn's facts and saw he was in a prison in Preston US.

I just had a look on Wiki, the guy got 24 years for drugs trafficking, what a set up though, he paid an undercover copper $200 for a kilo of coke which had a street value of $24,000. Anyone who was a bit savvy would have clocked on that something wasn't right there though.

No, I wasn't taking the piss, i did write to him.

I was basically telling him that I thought the whole entrapment case against him was a load of bollocks. I also wrote that I thought he was a real talent and that I enjoyed watching him fight.

I read an article about him and they had the address of the prison he was at and he said in the interview that he really enjoyed getting letters from fans. Maybe he had been moved, as he never replied to my letter.

I just felt sorry for the poor bugger getting slammed away for basically life for what was a fairly minor crime in many countries. Don`t think he had that much previous either.

Fvck it, he'd already allegedly thrown away half his talent taking the stuff he got entrapped into selling, silly lad all round because his talent, skill, boxing brain, were absolutely top-notch. Like Leonard or Ward topnotch.

Fvking 6'3 southpaw with mayweather talent and skill, he should have been an epic superstar. Albeit the Toney fight showed what might have been a blueprint for a certain kind of fighter to always give him hell. Gonna watch that again now, I think.

In retrospect people tend to lavish Nunn with praise given his ability but during his pomp the American boxing magazines were often highly critical of his safety first, insipid performances. Leonard could dazzle and delight with skills, guts, heart and a hefty dig. Nunn tended to fight safe first and, save the Kalambay aberration, was pretty tough to watch. I for one was thrilled when Toney beat his down in Davenport. The former crack dealer from Michelin brought a swagger and charisma back to the division

On topic Nunn's sentence was BS - the sort of thing only the bizarre US penal code could come up with #freethedavenportone

So harsh, a kilo of a recreational and not too dangerous drug is insane and the punishment does not fit the crime.

What life, no more and no less and to end up having two decades of it taken away is awful. The penal system in the US is bollox and i bet half of those involved in prosecuting him have stuck a kilo or so up their own noses.

They didn't get caught tho. Wouldn't disagree it's still a contradiction of the law.
As regards this "kilo of recreational"...that sounds like a fair old amount to me, personally.
Has anything changed as regards the law since then....I mean, if an undercover copper is playing an active hands on role in the same crime as you, then that really stinks. He's essentially an accomplice who has assisted, even encouraged..
24 years is a joke too. Hammer the little guy. There's crimes going on in big business that should carry far more than that.

Coiuld understand a guy writing to Beyonce , Elizabeth Hurley ,, or some other looker , and saying you should'nt be there , i support you , and when you come out i'll be there for you , and by the way since you will be needing some loving can i be the first I've booked a room near the prison so you won't have long to wait

A thousand grams of coke is small time to you ? How about if your next door neighbour participated in 1,000 drug deals - would you be happy to let your kids play outside ?
