WBA World super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov and Felix Sturm will face off over a scheduled 12 rounds at Koenig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, on Saturday, February 20, 2016.

Fighting out of Cologne, Germany, 36-year-old Sturm is a 14-year ring vet (39-5-3, 18 KOs, 1 No Contest) who won the WBA World middleweight title by beating Maselino Masoe via unanimous decision in March 2006, but lost it to Javier Castillejo by 10th-round TKO that July, Sturm’s only loss by stoppage to date. “The Fighter” regained his crown by beating Castillejo via unanimous decision in April 2007.

Sturm became WBA Super World middleweight champ by beating Giovanni Lorenzo via unanimous decision in September 2010, but lost the title to Daniel Geale, who won by split decision in September 2012. Third-ranked by the WBA, Sturm last won in December 2013, stopping Darren Barker by second-round TKO. He lost to Sam Soliman by unanimous decision in May 2014 and drew against Robert Stieglitz that November, followed by his loss to Chudinov.

A Russian, 28-year-old Chudinov is an undefeated six-year pro (14-0, 10 KOs) who most recently fought in September, successfully defending his title against Frank Buglioni, winning by unanimous decision.

Although the rematch was originally scheduled to take place in Moscow on December 12, all systems appear to be go for this coming February 20 in Oberhausen.

Glad to see this fight get made simply because it means Hopkins won't be getting a shot at Chudinov and the belt he holds.

Pretty sure I recently read that Chudinov was a possible opponent for Hopkins.
It's time for Hopkins to move on, I hope everybody on his radar has a better option.

I am not glad that Chudinov gave Sturm a rematch, as the first fight was a wide win, but I agree with the Hopkins part. We don't want to see Bernard face down like RJJ, and it will eventually happen if he keeps fighting decent opposition.

For Chudinov, I would prefer Jack, DeGale, Abraham or even somebody like Zurdo as an opponent.

Yeah, I guess I could have worded that better.
I think a rematch with Sturm is a waste of time too, would much rather see him in there with any of the guys you mentioned.
Just glad to see another potential Hopkins opponent scratched off the list.

Maybe even a stoppage this time around.
