Its the first time that I can remember hearing it anyway,
check this out.

Im not sure but those sound bites could have been taken from the flip side of
a 33 and a third rpm recording entitled
HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD
that had been originally aired by NBC Studios in June 1938.
It had also short interviews with
Jim J. Jeffries
Tommy Burns
Jack Johnson
Jess Willard


Anyone familiar with this recording?
Was it also a commercial release?

Well,Joe Louis name is mentioned in it,
but Gentleman Jim Corbett had died in 1933,
so they must have used some earlier recordings
(that have since been apparently lost)
for that particular programme if it is from 1938.

I wasnt even aware of that 74 minute ,2012 Irish documentery about him.(always beEn mainly a J. L Sullivan supporter I guess)

My guess would be that interview show of former Heavyweight Champions was used by NBC Radio
as sort of a promo,because it aired only two days before
NBC Radio aired live the Joe Louis vrs Max Schmeling II fight from Yankee stadium June-22-1938.
