Badminton is what it is, but it makes sense when you look at the top ten that Boxing wouldn't be ahead of any of them.

Yeah, boxing is pretty big in Indonesia - the lighter weights of course. They have cards on all the time.

I was more surprised by Netherlands - I never hear of any boxing events happening there, and can't think of a single boxer of note that is Dutch. And in the same bracket as Australia and Canada?

this popular sport list is ranked by media coverage, though, not participation, attendance, or tv ratings.
do women badminton players in saudi arabia have to wear burkhas?

This article holds ZERO weight with me after reading Rugby Union at Number 18 (probably fair enough but id have said top 15) made NO mention of New Zealand the current WORLD CHAMPIONS 2x in a row. Not mentioned at all. LOL

Boxing is major sport in Indonesia? lol wtf

I'm Indonesian, and boxing is hardly known here. In fact, the pro boxing activity is dying right now. Last year, the regular televised show is shut down and only a little amount of pro boxing card is done throughout the year.

It used to be bigger long time ago (with few TV channels showing it weekly), but throughout the last several years the only popular boxing shows are chris john's bouts because he's already famous (and he only fights twice/year...)

I work full time but play badminton twice a week to keep fit and enjoy it. Was in a boxing club when I was younger and played county level rugby. Getting smashed up a couple of times a week when you need to work isn't practical!

What they are doing is taking media statistics (column space, air time etc.) from only a few countries. Obviously NZ isn't one of them (Rugby, League, Hockey, Sailing etc.) or the Phillipines (Boxing, Badminton etc.), Argentina (Football, Rugby), Jamaica (Athletics) so it's just a pile of bollox really

Good to see "Competitive dance" come in at 90

Other than Yordan, Palulu and Zoda is there really anyone worth mentioning? Muhklis? Monabesa?

Don't think Mukhlis have any more potential, although I don't know how he looked in his last fight

Monabesa might be the real deal, from what I watch on his last 2 televised fights he have decent skills overall, and he's been KOing most of the domestic opponents, although idk how he'll be if he actually fight a decent opponent

Monabesa's team challenged Iwan Zoda last year, but Zoda's team rejected the offer since they already have a fight scheduled for December, gonna be really interesting if those two fought
(Although the local articles mentioned Zoda already has another overseas opponent scheduled for March/April)
