Image Part of Garcia problem is that his dad Angel Garcia is a big trash talker and people always expecting him to lose and he don't. Part of Broner's problem is he isn't as skilled of a boxer as he really is and he claims he can beat anyone in front of him. Some are always unimpressed with his performance and demands that he needs to control his personality & boxing skills.

They are not hated more than others.

I don't know why anybody would hate Broner, he's very comical.

Danny Garcia's cautious matchmaking is no worse than that of many others such as Wilder, Stevenson, Andy Ruiz, Brook, Thurman, etc.

A lot of trainers shoot their mouths off too much, not only Garcia but also Roach, Floyd Sr and Roger Mayweather, Hunter, Sanchez, etc.

There are two of them for a start.

Ha, but seriously I think Danny Garcia's problem isn't his dad or him winning when people thought he wouldn't, but the long stretch of underwhelming matchmaking. People knew the difference between him and his dad and they'd seen the relationship work (especially in the Khan fight). His dad was a entertainingly* obnoxious distraction, Danny himself was seen (right or wrong) as a basically decent, humble and hard-working guy. At the end of 2013 he'd built up quite a lot of good will with boxing fans (KOing Amir Khan, diffusing Lucas Matthysse) and had become a regular on p4p lists.

The came the Herrera (a lot thought he should have lost the fight), Salka (ugly mismatch), Peterson (interminable build up, catchweight**, some thought he lost the fight) and Malignaggi (uninspiring) fights and people turned against him. If he fights and beats some or more of Bradley/Pacquiao, Brook, Thurman, Crawford etc folk'll start rooting for him again.

Broner on the other hand played the black hat on purpose (fake marriage proposal, money down the toilet, disrespecting opponents after the fights) to court the "pay-to-see-him-lose" crowd. Add to that a low-intensity style of fighting that some have said is a sign of not working hard enough and an overall air of self-indulgence... even then I'd say in the Current Scene at least a guy like Andre Ward is more hated.

Hmm, interesting poll question idea: if Amir Khan was scheduled to fight Adrien Broner, who would you WANT to win?

*Well, some people seemed to find him entertaining.

**I personally didn't mind the catchweight in this case - neither guy had to drain to a weight he wasn't comfortable making. A big LWW added a couple of pounds to make a fight with a guy who'd outgrown the weight. I can't see any problems with that.
