It's too far away.
Everyone will watch it though.

He posted a video online before Christmas saying he is taking up the rematch clause.

the fight will happen, they both want the fight Tyson Fury even vacated the IBF title so he could fight the rematch with Wladimir.

its just everything else that take the time now, what venue, the undercard, the fighter purse, sanctioning etc. its the politics side of the sport that has to happen now rather than the fighting

Wladimir Klitschko is shot and has little chance of winning the rematch.

Like most boxers, he's over the hill at age 40. No on should be surprised.

Fury will not do so well against Anthony Joshua, who reminds me a lot of prime Wlad.

Wlad just fights like a pussy most of the time. If he would stop being so passive and just stand his ground and let his hands go he would likely KO Fury in the 1st round.

Yes, Wladimir is past his peak, but IMO he's not completely shot by any means.
He hasn't been through a bunch of wars or soaked up gads of punishment. He's just slowed down some due to his age, that's all.
If Klitschko is truly motivated & driven to reclaim the heavyweight title then he's got a very good chance at doing just that. But, he's going to have to totally change things up & fight outside of his comfort zone. Something that I'm not sure if he can or will do at this stage.
If he can & he really wants it badly enough, he's going to have to fight aggressively, put pressure on Fury & cut the ring off on him. And, keep his hands busy in order to land enough shots to check Fury's chin.
It would be awesome if he remembered that it's actually legal to throw/land punches to the body, but at this late stage of his career I'm not expecting miracles.

What I'm curious about is the delay in announcing the rematch and what it could mean. In terms of probabilities I think that it's most likely that A. Wlad VS Fury II will take place. B. Vitaly VS Fury I will take place. C. Wlad "sells" his rematch clause to a third party or D. Wlad either retires or carries on without taking the rematch.

I find it suspicious that this fight hasn't been announced yet and that there's no word coming from the camps of either fighter, something might be up.
Wlad is licking his wounds. Or trying to find wounds to lick from that brutal assault by Fury.

Wlad's finished.

If Fury could beat him, even in a non-descript bout, then his time is over.

A rematch will be another stinker, with the same result.

Wake me when Fury has the huevos to travel to Alabama and challenge the real champ in waiting.

Exactly. He is not shot, he is just used to fighting without taking risks. He tries to keep opponents away with a jab using reach advantage, and when they manage to get closer, he clinches. That worked with smaller guys, but didn't work with Fury who also showed decent movement and didn't try to get inside.

In the rematch, Wlad needs to fight differently, as a smaller guy, taking risks and trying to get closer. I doubt that after so many years of using the pussy style, he can change much.

Why does Anthony Joshua remind you of a prime Wladimir?

Here's what I hope happens with Wlad/Fury II. Wlad shows up to training camp knowing that this will be his final fight, win or lose. He gets himself in the best shape possible and let's it all hang out for one last time. Wlad wins the title back and then retires right there in the center of the ring and goes out with a bang.

Not only would that be a classy way to go out but vacating the belt could leave some interesting options for some kind of Super 6 sort of promotion to declare the next HW champ.

I just can't see Wlad winning vs Fury. Not that Fury is all that, just that Wlad needs more than to just let his hands go. Stylistically, Fury presents problems for Wlad, taking him out of his game and normal jab and grab style. I do think it will be closer, but Fury will win again. Wlad can't possibly perform any worse.
