BTW Eddie Murphy must have played a strictly defensive minded boxer in this movie, because I have seen a lot of Eddie Murphy movies
in my lifetime and he could really fight in his Comedies.
He threw big and fast Haymakers in them thrown from the hip and shoulder and got down n dirty
like his his fight scenes in ANOTHER 48 HRS (1990).
I think if Eddie Murphy was alive today he would make a terrific MMA fighter.
(if he was about 28 years old anyway).

Watch his uppercut against Blake "The Blade" Lirette during I-SPY (2002).

giving his opponent what looked to be a "free" shot too.

As I recall, Eddie Murphy's step-father, Vernon Lynch, was a solid pro who went into the seventh round with Sugar Ramos.

his step-father taught him some basics, though I don't think Eddie was the fighter many make him out to be. Trannies were supposedly more his thing.
