Khan mandatory for WBC

So Khans been made mandatory for the WBC Welterweight Title. He'll face the winner of Garcia vs Guerrero. Doesn't look like his only route back to a world title is Brook anymore.
When was it ever?LGilsenan wrote:Doesn't look like his only route back to a world title is Brook anymore.
Well it was never really his only way back, let me rephrase that, he no longer has to fight Brook for decent money, he can turn to Garcia for the rematch when he beats Guerrero.Horse wrote:When was it ever?LGilsenan wrote:Doesn't look like his only route back to a world title is Brook anymore.
It won't be as big as Froch/Groves 2 and nowhere near the proposed Fury/Joshua match.sammy95 wrote:If Khan wins the WBC, then next Spring / Summer we could see the biggest all British fight ever!
This could make both Khan Brook, very, very rich men

Well done WBC
On the other hand loosing to Brook will be the end of his carrier. Garcia fight is exactly what he needed to get out of the Brook fight. Its a title fight, its a chance to revenge and its an easier fight which he will probably win.Stuarty30 wrote:Every article I am reading seems to be pointing to a summer fight with Brook v Khan. Wonder if talks are going well behind the scenes or perhaps there is an agreement in principle? Khan should take the Brook fight before he even considers going in with Garcia again. If Garcia chins him again the Brook fight is gone and that fight probably has the biggest earning potential outside of Mayweather or Pac and they fights have obviously passed him by.
I'm not so sure it's an easier fight.Tarkus wrote:On the other hand loosing to Brook will be the end of his carrier. Garcia fight is exactly what he needed to get out of the Brook fight. I think it could be as big, especially if they are both holding belts. That's one fight I'd happily pay for.mickey1975 wrote:It won't be as big as Froch/Groves 2 and nowhere near the proposed Fury/Joshua match.sammy95 wrote:If Khan wins the WBC, then next Spring / Summer we could see the biggest all British fight ever!

Garcia took advantage of Khans bad habits of getting careless and lunge in. Since then he worked hard to improve on that aspect of his game with visible results. I think Khan will box Garcias head off in the rematch.davie wrote: I'm not so sure it's an easier fight.
Danny is a top class fighter who may have had a few underwhelming performances in the not too distant past, but he's spanked Khan before and I've said for some time now, I'll never write Danny off again.
I also think people are getting over excited about Brook, no doubt he's a quality fighter but he was only just good enough to beat Porter who was himself an average world champion IMO and has fought no one else of real quality.
If Brook is as good as many think, surely he is not someone who would signal the end of your career if he were to beat you?
Even with his flaws Khan was boxing his head off first time round. I have Khan to win either against Garcia or Brook, with both being very risky assignments for Amir and his aversion to hard digs on the chin.Tarkus wrote:Garcia took advantage of Khans bad habits of getting careless and lunge in. As for Brook I think his win over Porter is bigger then any of Garcias wins. I dont think Garcia beats Porter. Brook is big, strong and aggressive fighter that will walk through whatever Khan has to offer.
The most important thing is that Khan appears to also think that way. He was looking for Garcia rematch for quite some time, while avoiding Brook like a plague. Even though Brook fight has been the biggest money fight for him all these years. And still is with massive UK PPV potential.

So by your logic, how does Guerrero deserve a title fight before him?
Also worth noting that Brook has been inactive for exactly one day less than him
Taking Pac out I would say it's probably Bradley on achievements and Thurman on ability. Garcia right up there though.Gazmac81 wrote:Khan

Just get some fights happening please , I know a few of them have fought each other but there's good fights there
I don't like seeing them matched with Peterson and Guerrero , does nothing for me there pretty much done.
Take Pacquio out of the mix and no one really knows who is the best Welterweight out there.
to me id say Garcia is top of the pile until proven otherwise
I genuinely think Brook has the talent and power to be one (if not thee) of the main players at 147 and I reckon he could go to 154 and win titles also but maybe he is a little fragile mentally? Maybe his 0 means too much to him. As for being just good enough to beat Porter, I think Porters just one of they guys that's horrible to fight and near impossible to look good against. Was a close, messy fight. You're 100% correct though Brooks opponents have been mediocre at best. I'm a fan but I want to see him in with Bradley, Thurman, Spence, Garcia, Khan etc...davie wrote:I'm not so sure it's an easier fight.Tarkus wrote:On the other hand loosing to Brook will be the end of his carrier.
