As per twitter Hearn won the bids yesterday with the fight to be held at the Genting Arena (formerly NEC) 5th March.

Interesting fight in theory styles should really gel with this one.

Cello Renda v Ben Wilkes confirmed for the card (poss English title / some sort of eliminator) with Gamal Yafai v Bobby Jenkinson for the commonwealth and Kal Yafa v Anthony Nelson rumoured.

Wish it was the NIA and not the NEC though the place is in the middle of nowhere and nightmare to get back from (last train into Brum/Wolverhampton 23.30)

Damn good fight. Skeete is hitting pretty hard these days - hopefully he keeps up with this new controlled aggression and we get a good scrap. I got Skeete edging it with his experience.

Really good fight, good blend of styles hopefully, I have shifted about on this fight even when just thinking about the possibility.

Looking forward to it, lets hope that "no issues" stop the fight from happening.

thats my only worry the Birmingham Matchroom shows seem jinxed and with Skeete being with Warren.

I fancy Skeete in this one, Eggington is strong and tough but is a little bit limited in the defensive department, I can see Skeete outboxing him.

NEC is a bit of a big venue for this one surely? I know they can scale down the rooms but there has to be more suitable arenas in the Birmingham area.

Would have to think Gavin/Macklin and a bigger name be added to try and get the numbers in. If it's priced well and with a good undercard, i'll be going

NEC isn't much bigger than the NIA to be fair and as you can say it can be scaled down.

Eggington Evans was scalled down (most of the upper blocks shut) etc but still seemed to do good numbers. The Team Savage bandwagon seems to be growing in the Midlands

If both Yafai's are in decent fights as expected and the non tv undercard packed with local lads against each other (which seems that way from Renda/Wilkes) I'm sure it'll sell well.

Think Macklin is fighting Rose at the o2 in April, shame that couldn't be in Brum with them both being Brummies (although sometimes pretend not to be). As for Gavin don't think his suspension issues will be cleared up on time will it?

Got a horrible feeling politics will get in the way of this one.
Hope not though as it's a cracking 50/50 fight.

Oh yeah, i'd completely forgotten about his suspension. No chance he'll be on it then.

Hopefully it will do well but i'm going to stay on the safe side and wait until nearer the time to buy a ticket

Skeete seemed up for it on twitter last night tweeting that the fights on in Birmingham etc. Lets hope so unlike many Matchroom fighters I'm sure Eggington would have gone and fought on a FW bill if he'd have won bids.

Realistically I think Warren's let this one go, Eggington's a far bigger draw in Brum than Skeete is in London.

Skeete sells pretty good numbers himself so imagine he will be taking some decent support up there for it.

Crazy thing is theres no mid sized venues in bham that can do tv.Everyones looked and tried to find them when the aston villa liesure center finally fell down theres no 3 to 4 thou arenas in bham.

There's a perfect little place in the best city in the West Midlands, the Skydome in Coventry! We've not seen a fight (professional anyway) since the Boxing Binman won the WBC Silver Title against Terrazas

Skeete is a decent boxer very tall and can fight abit too,eggington is,on paper,the bigger puncher but i thing power wise its probably even cause skeete can punch. Good fight tho will be looking forward to it

I like eggington, not sure if he can beat Skeete, who is the better boxer. Mind you everyone always seems to underestimate eggington and he always better than you expect each time.

I fancy eggington on points. Also after speaking to a lad who's boxed both in the pro's im staying with that decision. Cello v wilkes is an interesting fight wud have liked to have seen cunningham v clark remade after a late pull out last time by clark.
