pelando al principio de la popularidad y trascendencia en la actualidad, el promotor mexicoestadounidense Óscar de la Hoya comentó que si hoy tuviera que negociar la pelea entre el mexicano Canelo Álvarez y el kazajo Gennady Golovkin, pediría incluso hasta el 90 por ciento de las ganancias para Saúl y daría sólo el 10 por ciento a GGG, motivo por el que hoy se hace difícil negociar la pelea y dejarán al tiempo la posibilidad de que sea aún mejor.

Canelo reiteró el lunes en la Ciudad de México que está listo para GGG "cuando sea", pero aseguró también que será bajo sus condiciones y no lo que quiera o pida Golovkin, a quien destacó como un peleador con mucha potencia y gran campeón, pero hasta ahí.

"Si fuera por mí, si la pelea se da mañana, la negociación sería 90 por ciento para Canelo y 10 por ciento para Golovkin, y por eso obviamente esa negociación sería complicada, pero en su tiempo vamos a sentarnos y armar esa pelea, es una pelea que todo mundo quiere ver", dijo De la Hoya.

Hoy Golovkin es considerado por muchos como el segundo mejor peleador libra por libra del mundo, sólo detrás de Román 'Chocolatito' González; sin embargo, en su primer evento de pago por evento vendió sólo 150 mil casas, mientras que Canelo ante peleadores como Alfredo Angulo y Erislandy Lara vendió 400 mil y 350 mil casas, y luego, ante Miguel Cotto, rondó el millón de casas vendidas.

En cuanto al peso, dijo De la Hoya que no será problema, siempre y cuando Canelo esté listo para pelear en las 160 libras o en las libras que él mejor se sienta, algo que de alguna forma se ha ganado el mexicano. Ese mismo pensamiento fue sustentado por Eric Gómez, vicepresidente de Golden Boy.

"No es casualidad que Canelo ocupe este lugar en el boxeo hoy, veamos a sus rivales, qué peleador ha enfrentado a peleadores como Shane Mosley, Austin Trout, Floyd Mayweather, Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara, James Kirkland y Miguel Cotto, seis excampeones o campeones mundiales, él merece ser el número uno del boxeo, yo en lo personal quisiera darle un rival más tranquilo para mayo porque ha peleado con puro duro, pero el hecho de ser un pago por evento hace que esto sea delicado", opinó Gómez.

De la Hoya said the fight will be even bigger down the line and that it will happen.

Canelo said he's ready for it whenever it happens.

Eric Gomez (vice president of GBP) says Saul is deserves to be number one but that he'd like a more "tranquilo" opponent for May due to Canelo having been matched against the toughest opponents lately.

If/when Canelo has his lights punched out by Golovkin, it could spell the end of Oscar as a promoter.

just so you know, Kirkland received 27% of the purse when he faced Canelo ($1.3m) but Golovkin only deserves 10% according to Oscar? What the f#ck?

a 65-35 or 60-40 seems way more reasonable to me.

With a 10% Split Golovkin can make more money fighting other opponents...

Anyway you slice it, it's obvious that Oscar is afraid that Canelo will lose and his star will not shine and Triple G will become the #1 PPV king.

It is called negotiating.

Team Canelo is obviously angling toward two to three years down the line when 3G has shown the effects of age.

Clearly they are making a derisory offer because they don't want the fight, at least not yet.

10% is a ridiculous offer.

I don't understand why the onus is on GGG to take it up the ass at the negotiating table just to prove what everybody already knows and the public agree on, that GGG is the actual best middleweight around. This is protecting an investment, not a serious number or attempt. DLH likely knows what Golovkin will do once the bell rings there is no going back. So delay that showdown as effectively as possible.

ODLH might as well just plaster a 20ft sign on the front of GBP head quarters saying "we will do just about anything to avoid Canelo getting in the ring with that beast"

The purse bid would be 55/45 cus ggg has a belt too. Also the purse bid would mean no catch weight. Oscar is just talking shit, canelo will force his hand like he did with Lara and trout.

because GGG is mandatory challenger for the title and if it goes to purse bid the WBC
split is 70/30, so GB can pay GGG 30% minimum or get stripped of his title. the WBC
board can even modify that to a more even split, and in this case they would. this is twice
now canelo has already paid GGG to step aside under the promise that GGG will fight for

which is a number people pull out of their ass all day whenever they want to estimate a big majority.
he did not say that 90% is an actual legit purse split that would ever happen. they both already agreed
that they are not fighting each other until september anyway, so continuing to explain why they aren't
fighting each other in may is just beating a dead horse.

This is just Oscar's way of saying Canelo won't fight GGG now because it needs to marinate.....so GGG can "earn" more of the % of the purse...Oscar knows that Canelo will get his ass handed to him imo.
