Don't have any issue with Alexander going to the U.S to defuse the bomber.
The champion can dictate the terms in most cases.

but i'd be interested to see what would happen if the russians made a big bid like they did for the Klitschko fight.

I imagine wilder would drop the belt, though it would be a huge check with him getting the bulk. Hard to have sympathy for povetkin, he ducked wlad for half his career. Most ducking claims are bullshit, that sure wasn't.

Wilder may not have a choice, depending on how negotiations go.

Povetkin and his team have money behind them, and in the past they have even outbid K2 promotions, in order to stage the Povetkin-Klitschko fight in Moscow. They had a 23$ Million USD bid as I recall. So they have money to throw around. I don't know how much they would be willing to bid on this fight, probably considerably less because it is not close to as big as the Klitschko-Povetkin fight was.

But, if it goes to a purse bid, and Povetkin's team wins and chooses to fight in Russia, Wilder has no choice. Well, the only choices he has is to
A) Fight in Russia
or B) Drop the belt and lose his title.

Povetkin's team has said they are open to the idea of fighting in USA, but in all honesty if you watched the scoring from last night, that does not seem like a good idea as the officiating will likely favour Wilder. Most fans had the fight even or Szpilka winning, but the judges and media all had Wilder ahead.

If Povetkin does fight Wilder in USA, he needs to demand 3 non-American judges and a non-American ref. Because as we just saw last night, Szpilka was on his way to being robbed. The majority of fans in the internet rbr's (even here at boxrec) at Szpilka ahead, but the judges had a completely different scoreline.

Povetkin would be wise to force bid and take the fight to Russia.

But just last night Wilder claimed he'd fight anywhere. Could that have been hyperbole?

The guy with the money dictates where the fight is. This will come down to who is wealthier, Povetkins manager or Al Haymon.

He'd fight Fury anywhere. Besides, Fury is the lineal champ... or closest thing to one. Povetkin is a contender.

Suggesting that Szpilka was about to be robbed on the cards is a bridge too far. Neither fighter had established anything close to dominance before the final punch.

Accusations of poor scoring can go both ways. The majority of people on this site were hoping for Szpilka to KTFO Wilder. Might that have affected some of the scoring?

He'd fight Fury anywhere...in Alabama. Young Fury that is. Wilder has yet to prove he'll fight anywhere.

I'm tired of the talk from everyone included. I want to see Fury/Klitschko II, Wilder/Povetkin, and then the winners. I couldn't care less where, as long as the judges are neutral.

After last night, if I was part of Team Wilder, I would target the winner of Fury v WKlit II.

I hear ya.

But, regarding fighting Povetkin in Russia.... Wilder has seen Rocky 4. No way is he taking those accommodations.

He was in hostile territory last night.

I agree that Povetkin should be next, but I think they may maneuver for a shot at the Fury v WKlit winner.

Sounds good to me.

I think Wilder would have success against Wlad. But, Fury would be a tough outing for him. I like Wilder and the spirit he brings. I'd be rooting for him big time. But, as ugly as Fury is, he has shown that he can utilize an effective jab along with effective movement. Nothing pretty, just effective.

I also think Wilder's jab is extremely effective, when he's using it. But, I believe along with a height advantage, Fury would be enjoying a reach advantage as well... I may be wrong on that tho.

I actually like both Fury and Wilder. I would enjoy the run up to the fight almost as much as the fight itself, no matter which way it went.

He was fighting on an Al Haymon card against tough journeyman. The Polish contingent was loud, but that's not comparable in any way to truly hostile territory against a world class opponent.

Wilder is exciting. Very exciting due to his power and his flaws. It's time to see what he's really got. If he really believes he's the best, he'll fight Povetkin wherever the match lands. Of course dodging Povetkin for Wlad/Fury II winner is acceptable, but he shouldn't be allowed to defend his title against anyone but Alexander.

Povetkin team seems resigned to fight in USA. You have to keep in mind that the economic situation in Russia is a far cry from the times when Ryabinsky bid 20 millions. Russian oligarchs are tightening their belts and no longer have free millions to throw around. Purse bid wont be happening on the account of the place of the fight. However I am curious if Haymon crew tries some of their recent antics like giving Povetkin late notice. It would be ill advised if they did. Pushed too hard it might end up in purse bid after all. And then all bets are off. I think Wilder team will be sensible.

He fought in the USA, just like 31 of his other fights.
Apart from Puerto Rico, which is a United States Territory overseen by the US govt, he has fought 3 times in Mexico, which is practically the same neighbourhood. 2 of those fights were against Americans, not Mexicans.
The only times you could really say he has fought in hostile territory is the one fight in Mexico against a Mexican, and the single fight out of the geographical neghbourhood in England, against the sacrificial lamb Audley Harrison.
But then, that's to be expected I suppose going on historical precedent.
