Eddie Hearn says no to Joshua/Haye

Joshua/Haye is a natural fight and a money spinner - and the sort of big name scalp Joshua could do with on his CV (couldn't bear to write 'resume'), especially at a time when contenders are preserving records and rankings while fighting nobodies. Joshua by beating Haye would confirm his status as the heir presumed.

Instead Hearn says Haye doesn't fit in with his plan of Joshua fighting for a world title. Translation: 'My guy's got a glass chin and Haye can still hit. Do you have Charles Martin's number?'

Absolutely. Having talked up a Haye/Joshua fight, Hearn has had his bluff well and truly called. Haye is a very fast, aggressive fighter with massive punching power.

Joshua, when hit by Whyte, reminded me of Frank Bruno getting stiffened by Jumbo Cumings. I think Hearn will persue the Martin route and then try and box Fury, who is not as big a puncher as Haye.

It's the same as Bill Joe Saunders team not accepting a career best pay day to box GGG. His promotional team don't want anything to do with GGG.

I think he would have wanted to see Haye taken a few rounds not see him put him away in a minute to show he still has the punch. The cash cow would be gone if Haye KO'D Joshua so it will be down the Latvian dustmen route for Intercontinental belts for Joshua with a stacked undercard of course

Ultimately IMO, Team AJ/Uncrowned People's Champ/Camp Eddie are likely to avoid Haye and much more likely to chase Fury, for the exact same reason I expect Team Wilder to do the same. If AJ/Wilder lost to Fury it would likely be points and not too debilitating, *if* AJ/Wilder lost to Haye it would be a horrific KO resulting in hospitalisation.

I concur.

So destructive to have fragmented titles. It stalls the division and guarantees the best won't fight the best, often until years too late.

Disappointing news.

Although having said that, most of the people that seem to be criticising Hearn/Joshua seem to be the same ones that confidently predict that Haye would knock him out without breaking sweat which seems...strange. If not predictable.

The Whyte fight showed that Joshua has a lot of learning to do, so let him do it - Lennox had 22 fights before fighting for the WBC strap, Wlad was 35-1 and Povetkin waited until his 23rd.

Joshua is 15 fights in and he's a bottler/got a glass chin/whatever because he won't go in with one of the divisions quickest, hardest punchers?

No surprise that they wish to avoid Haye. There are much safer paths to World Titles than taking on a fighter with the power, experience and movement of Haye.

Post 18 months, I think the tables turn and Haye becomes far less dangerous to the younger man.

Eddie and friends will keep AJ well away from Haye. Plenty will say Haye would get smashed etc, that's fine but; I would offer the thought that Haye currently, is much more likely to KO AJ.

And a KO of AJ means a big gravy train for Hearn would be derailed big time.

Haye might find himself now, like Amir Khan, frozen out of the big fights.

Wise to avoid Haye from team AJ.

Wonder if Fury will still say no to Haye once the money is on the table. I hope he does after the two wasted training camps.

Joshua is a man with plenty of options available. Ideally he'd fancy Martin but you'd expect Martin/Wilder soon.

Haye may have to go the Mandatory route as he's currently secretary to President Ortiz in the Heavyweight who needs him club.

Haye/Helenius would be a interesting fight if Chisora manages to get the Martin shot.

Give Eddie plenty of shit but I think he's right here and the thread smacks of some posters here twisting on twenty one.

If AJ knocks seven bells out of Haye... "Uh that was shit, Haye was crap anyway, had 3-years off and fought no one so this should have been expected"

If Haye demolishes AJ... "It was way too soon for him should have fought someone else, only a 15-fight novice etc etc"

And what people bang on about here but likely 0.0% of people sit and say after a fight... "I'm just really glad they both got a massive pay day"

Perhaps it's just me, but Haye v Joshua does bollocks all for me if they were to make it any time in the first three quarters of 2016. Pulses will race when Haye's actually proved he's back to his best (or something resembling it) and Joshua has come through against better quality opponents.

Nothing wrong at all with keeping Joshua away from Haye right now, they're at totally different stages of their careers. It's not like the GGG / BJS situation where they are both 'world champions' - Joshua is still a relative novice.

Joshua definitely should avoid Haye for now. No point derailing the gravy train just yet

Haye's trying to do it all on his own and keep most of the dough to himself. The 'establishment ' won't let him in unless they really have to.

I doubt Haye would keep turning down a career-high purse and a fight at Wembley.

Haye v Joshua would be a real thiller, and sell out any stadium. Saturdays fight attracted 16,000 so Haye facing someone with a bit of a following would fill the biggest arena in the UK.

Now, I dont think it would be a good fight for Joshua, something is telling me that Haye has done his homework on Joshua and im thinking he possibly could do a number on him and get a title shot off it. If I was AJ I would stay well away at this point. When Whyte tagged AJ he became almost Bruno like until he shook of the sting and obviously went onto win. Haye has more experiance in this field and I bet my bottom dollar Haye has studied the fight and others and can see his way through, it might well be that AJ is perfect for Haye. I cannot see Haye letting AJ off the hook if he chinned him and AJ did the Bruno shuffle. No I dont think at this stage this is a fight for AJ. Haye has put on weight to add extra power rather than dance floor moves. Haye most likely cannot move as fast so the extra weight has added power instead of foot speed.

Its easy to build up a fighter after 1 fight and Mori wasnt exactly a body but merely a chump to make Haye look bloody good. Saying that Haye has to be respected he's no mug, he might pull out of fights but when in the ring he can bang, and it looks like he's added extra fuel to his bang.

Fury v Haye again would be very very interesting but I cannot see Fury being the one who is victorious so again Fury should stay out of the picture unless its Haye that has the belts, no need for Fury to waste his ass on Haye.

If I was Eddie I wouldn't let Haye anywhere near AJ for a least a couple of years AJ must contribute an enormous amount of money to the boxing side of the business, smart Money says he'll get a shot at the IBF this year and make even more money by defending at Big areans again and again.

Khan was never frozen out of big fights, he tried to chase one big payday with his mouth instead of earning it with his fists and has ducked the other potential big earners out there for him

Frozen out implies Floyd and then Manny were avoiding the man who should rightfully have been their opponent, this clearly isn't the case.

Haye, equally hasn't earned the right to demand the big fights, so he'll have to earn it.
If he does, he might find himself avoided as he is dangerous, but that's a way off right now.

I wasn't implying Khan deserved anything. But I think most boxing fans would rather have had Mayweather/Khan than Mayweather/Berto, and Pac/Khan insteasd of Pac/Bradley XIV.

If Joshua is a genuine future heavyweight champ you would think he would be able to attend to a 35 year old cruiser who's only boxed 2 fights in 4 years.

The cruiserweight tag has for many years been used as a pejorative term for human-sized heavyweights. Amazing how many big modern heavies don't want to fight this 'small man'.

Haye is a dangerous proposition for anyone in the division, even now.
I'm sure he will be demanding the lions share of the split too.
It makes sense for Joshua to wait.

I think you're right. A year from now, Haye's probably at the top of the ladder getting onto the slide, and Joshua's hitting the top of the swing.

Much more fun if it happens when it's a 50:50.

so Haye's knock-over job at the weekend has done him no favours in the eyes of Eddie ? he would have been better off dragging out a boring points win and looking awful

Haye has a lot more experience than Joshua this point. I don't blame them one bit. Let Joshua get a few more decent fights under his belt.

Haye wants him now because he knows how raw AJ still is.

I doubt very much Haye will hang around if he can't get Joshua whilst he's green. He knows that in another 4-5 fights, which is probably another year at the rate Joshua is going,

How many more fights is Haye willing to have before he gets a massive payday and/or a title shot, not many I'd wager. If he can angle for a title shot against Martin - who will surely avoid him like the plague he'll use it to try and lure Joshua, but I've a feeling Joshua may well get there first.

Hang on now. Joshua has had 15 fights against weak opposition, Haye is a two weight world champ, who has been around at top level longer than Joshua has been a pro - that's pretty warped logic.

Forget the size, Haye can bang as hard as anyone out there in the division, and he's a ruthless finisher. If he fought Joshua tomorrow, I'd make it a pick em fight, but Haye's experience would count for a lot. If either man landed big I wager it would be good night Bermondsey.
