Watt - Arguello
-10-----10 - Horribly dull opening round, commentators gave it to Arguello for moving forward but not enough happened to score either man winner
-10-----9 - Another slow one, Arguello with a couple decent punches early, Watt landed a couple late in the round. hard to score
--9-----10 - Clear Arguello round, started well, landed a few good shots early then controlled the rest of the round
--9-----10 - Watt looking tentative, Arguello again winning the round in the first minute, getting through Watts guard regularly, then coasting.
--9-----10 - Much closer round with both men landing scoring shots with either hand, Felt Arguello landed slightly more and slightly harder
--9-----10 - Another close one with both getting off, but most work from Watt coming from the jab. Argullo pressing well and showing variety
--8-----10 - knockdown decides the round,
-10-----9-not much in it but Watt contributed more than he has in any other round. Countered a few Arguello jabs and let the left hand go occasionally
--9-----10 Arguello took a minute off at the start of the round but grew into it and finished stronger
-10-----9 - Watt got on the front foot for the first time and backed Arguello up and it worked. Felt Arguello could have done more with Watt cut tho
--9-----10 - Arguellos round started backing Watt up again, still think he could do more. Looks like he knows he has it won and is pacing himself
-10-----9 - Watt just doing enough in a good round. Commentry team don't sound like they like Jim much, must know he's after their jobs
-10-----10 - Watt busier, Arguello landed heavier, particularly a couple good shots in the last 20 seconds that could have nicked the round
--9-----10 - Arguello landing a couple nice left hook round the outside, right through the middle combos. Watt had moments but not enough
--9-----10 - Watt missed with a good few of the big punches he tried to land to change it in the last round, Arguello landing more cleanly
140 - 146
Don't think we learned a lot about Jim Watt other than at 33 he wasn't quite good enough to beat a legend like Arguello. Not sure that will surprise many.
The 4 rounds I gave to Watt were tight, where as Arguello had a couple of wider rounds in amongst the 9 I scored in his favour and I could easily have scored the two 10-10 rounds to Arguello. So I can see how that might have been wider.
The fight had a decent amount of action but was fairly one paced and one dimensional. No body work to speak of, no inside fighting and not a huge amount of movement.
Watt moved straight back from Arguello, just stepping away from him for most of the fight, but always letting him stay in range, would liked to have seen him circle anti clockwise to get round Arguellos jab, as the commentators pointed out, Watts right hand looked the stiffer of the 2 and would him like to see him try to get more hooks off instead of pushing out the jab, think he might have had more success.
Not sure Watt had the spring in his step at that stage of his career and ultimately I felt Arguello had another gear if he needed it but felt comfortable and knew he was landing the cleaner shots for the majority of the fight.
Nice touch and plenty respect from Jim after Arguello's passing
