Pacquiao,Kell Brook,Timothy Bradley,Thurman,Khan,& Shawn Porter would beat Danny Garcia at Welterweight!
All these guys are serious challengers for Danny Swift Garcia and can also trouble him in the ring as well. When i seen Garcia's first fight at welterweight,he fought Paulie Malignaggi, then he fought Guerrero,I already knew then, that Garcia will start cherry picking at welterweight. Its also a shame that he fought for a vacant title, when he only fought 2 fights at 147 & against disapproval opponents.I also believe that Garcia, would avoid and duck most of these fighters,he already said no to a Khan rematch,he might even avoid Keith Thurman are Shawn Porter as well.

Re: Pacquiao,Kell Brook,Timothy Bradley,Thurman,Khan,& Shawn Porter would beat Danny Garcia at Welterweight!
I think they all very well could beat Garcia, but I wouldn't count him out of all of those fights. I think he'd have a reasonable chance at beating Porter or Pacquiao, and he's already beaten Amir Khan before so there's no reason to think he couldn't do it again.
Re: Pacquiao,Kell Brook,Timothy Bradley,Thurman,Khan,& Shawn Porter would beat Danny Garcia at Welterweight!
I certainly wouldn't write him off in any of those bouts.
He'd be second favourite in a few of them, I'd fancy him to win one or two.
I've made my fair share of wrong predictions in Garcia fights though, always backing the other man obviously.
Don't write Danny off, he's a top welterweight and will give any of those guys, at very least, a hard nights work and has the power to trouble any of them.

I think he probably has the beating of khan again. Porter... hmm maybe. Don't fancy him much vs the rest.

Was i the only person impressed with the performance against Guerrero,i thought he boxed beautifully at times,Robert had his moments and put in a great effort but was caught with superb counters time and again,it was a very measured performance and the reason why im even more surprised Mayweather called it a draw,he made a career with similar performances,Garcia looked like he might have gotten Guerrero out of there round about 7/8 but seemed content to box his way to a comfortable points win
Garcia's had a few sub par performances in his career but i dont think this was one of them

I agree completely. i thought that DG looked fantastic and I was especially impressed with his right hand. We all know about his left but he clearly put some effort into expanding his arsenal with developing that right hand. He looks like he couldn't put more into those punches. I loved what i saw in DG.handsofstone wrote:Was i the only person impressed with the performance against Guerrero,i thought he boxed beautifully at times,Robert had his moments and put in a great effort but was caught with superb counters time and again,it was a very measured performance and the reason why im even more surprised Mayweather called it a draw,he made a career with similar performances,Garcia looked like he might have gotten Guerrero out of there round about 7/8 but seemed content to box his way to a comfortable points win

DG's skin looks like it rashes and bruises easily so he always looks like he's getting the worst of it in there. But he's awesome. Thurman vs. DG is the fight we have to see

Amir would get KO'd again, brook is as overrated as Garcia 50/50 fight. The others destroy Garcia

Yeah maybe Khan can't handle Garcia's left hook are any power of Garcia,i have to admit Amir Khan has a very weak & glass chin.I don't think Garcia could handle the pressure of Pacquiao,Thurman,Porter, are Bradley.I could see any of those guys easily outworking Danny Garcia. 8)Leatherface wrote:Amir would get KO'd again, brook is as overrated as Garcia 50/50 fight. Why would he need to rematch a Bum in Khan that he put to sleep so devastatingly?? Packy fought washed up or drained fighters at WW but DG isn't asking anyone to drain down for their titles or in order to face them.
Were you this critical towards Packy when he moved up to WW skipping the very best at 135 to face a bum in Diaz??
Just asking.

Pacquiao did not fight washed up welterweights,Pacman fought De La Hoya,Hatton,Miguel Cotto, and Clottey. When they where still in there prime,Manny also defeated some of the best at super featherweights & featherweights as well,he beat Morales twice,He defeated Marco Antonio Barrera twice, and he defeated Juan Marquez twice. If Pacquiao wanted to skip the lightweight division, that was his choice but by long shot Pac man didn't have plenty bum fights at all.Undefeated49-0 wrote:psychod1986 wrote:All these guys are serious challengers for Danny Swift Garcia and can also trouble him in the ring as well.

And Amir Khan is far from a bum, every since he defeated Andriy Kotelink for WBA Title,he was able to defend his title four times against great competition before getting robed in the Peterson fight.Khan defended his titles against Zab Judah,Marcos Maidana,Paulie Malignaggi, and Paul McCloskey when he was undeafted.Undefeated49-0 wrote:psychod1986 wrote:All these guys are serious challengers for Danny Swift Garcia and can also trouble him in the ring as well.

Danny could do with stepping it up a bit but I could sure see him beating many names on that list.

De la Hoya was a washed up Zombie by the time Pac fought him, Miguel had been ruined by Margo's loaded gloves and not recovered at the time plus they drained him down with Roach admitting that he was damaged goods at that time and Clottey was a pure no-Hoper who didn't even bother to fight back and when he did he did major damage on Packy.psychod1986 wrote:Pacquiao did not fight washed up welterweights,Pacman fought De La Hoya,Hatton,Miguel Cotto, and Clottey.

He CW'd the returning bouts with Morales because he knew he was unable to beat him at his full weight not to mention that they got him after Zahir Raheem beat and humiliated him in every round, Barrera wasn't what he once was by the time he faced Manny and JMM arguably beat him everytime they fought.

I never said Manny fought Bums, I said he fought them when they were either Weight Drained or just had been severely beaten but it's ok to talk about DG but not Manny, right??
F8ck Manny.

Back on topic...
I find Garcia's biggest challenge is finding another gear.
He seems to have 1 game plan, 1 pace to fight at and 1 gear. He doesn't seem to be able to change it up in a fight and every time I've watched Garcia, he's always just Danny Garcia, the same fighter
So far that's served him fairly well and that game plan has been enough, but as discussed only just enough at times.
I remember against Khan thinking he was getting thoroughly beaten in the open 3 rounds and thinking he has to do something different, he didn't and stuck to the game plan and boom, finds the finishing punch to make an arse of me (well what do I know
)
Sometimes Plan A works perfectly for him, Matthysee being a good example, he deserved credit for that night
But a lot of the performances that he's been criticised for, Herrera and Peterson, he just does enough and sticks rigidly to the plan even if he isn't clearly winning (the peterson fight changed tack because Peterson decided to try plan B and engage),
Again against Guerrero, he was finding the better shots and was winning the fight but not by a huge margin, you felt all through he could do more, he could maybe get him out of there, as tough as Robert is. At very least he could put on a show. Maybe that's why I'm not a top level trainer, because Danny was winning why change it....
I'm not sure that, if he was behind against a Thurman/Brook/Pacquiao/Bradley/Porter/Khan whether that be through getting outboxed, outworked, outfought or just hit with the heavier shots, if he can adapt and do something different than just be Danny Garcia.
Take Khan, what if Virgil sends him in with a tactical plan to negate the tactics of Danny and he can't land those big shots. Say Khan does what he did in the first round last time, but does it for 12. What happens when he can't land that one big counter shot?
As I said earlier, I give Danny a shot in any of these fights for a few reasons. but I can't help wonder whaty happens if he struggles, I don't think theres a plan B

Garcia would tune up Manny. He obviously can compete with Khan. The rest are good, tight, fights. Hopefully one of those guys fights Spence soon, because he's ready to take over.

I think he could get points win against Porter in a similar fashion to Brook. The cleaner boxer against Porters crude and unrefined aggression

I thought he changed up his plan a lot against RG, he was just simply countering with one twos, then he went to setting traps and firing a great straight right that pasted RG the rest of the fight, not to mention how he exchanged heavily with him in the 12th.davie wrote:Back on topic...

I'm not sure why you didn't see that he did change his angles, he rolled with punches, counterpunched and adjusted his timing throughout the entire fight.
Honestly this was the best I've ever seen DG fight.

First up, I just knew someone was going to list the 17 seconds at the end of the final round as evidence he could find another gear.
Second, did you just say, in the first paragraph, that against RG he went from simply counter punching to...........setting traps to throw counter punches.
And furthermore, try to provide that as empirical evidence that DG can suddenly change strategy.
I'm not sure changing your angles can exactly be listed as a wholesale change in pace, approach or strategy but I'll give you that one, it's an adjustment.
But rolling with punches and counterpunch was what he tried and largely succeeded in doing for the entire fight. He improved his success, in both of those departments, as the fight progressed and that's largely down to him getting his timing right (partly down to Guerrero tiring and becoming weary with walking into heavy shots). But improving you timing and accuracy as a fight progresses is just getting to grips with your opponent and achieving more success with plan A, it hardly represents a sweeping change to his strategy in the fight.
The pace of the fight certainly never changed and the over all approach didn't either, from either man.
But in all fairness, the Guerrero fight maybe isn't the best example I could have given, plan A was working, I said elsewhere that Danny won this by a wider marging than even maybe the judges scored it and also pointed out above that he could have stepped it up but it might not have been the wisest strategy when comfortably winning.
It was more in reference to other fighter he's struggled against and using that as a reason he may struggle against some of the guys listed in this thread.
Re: Pacquiao,Kell Brook,Timothy Bradley,Thurman,Khan,& Shawn Porter would beat Danny Garcia at Welterweight!
I know that Danny Garcia's popularity is at an all time low right now after some generous decisions against some lackluster performances but someone has to speak up with the truth here so why not let it be me? This kid is undefeated and you can say that he lost the Herrera fight because it's popular but go back and watch the fight again. Garcia clearly won that fight. Did anyone watch what I watched Saturday night? Danny Garcia looked absolutely fantastic Saturday night. Did anyone notice his improved right hand? He landing that punch from crazy angles and sometimes doubling up on it. Before, he just had the big left hand. Now he's got both hands and the rest of the division is in trouble.
Anyone saying that any of these guys can beat Danny at welterweight without a doubt doesn't know anything about Boxing. Danny's a top Welterweight and just as deadly or more so than any listed above.

Damn, how do you guys pick "the fighters you hate"?
Funny how you tried to slip Khan in there.
Manny would get KO'ed viciously ...
The rest are closer than you think.

Well i guess you didn't notice how DG was dropping the left arm and literally walking himself to the ropes though RG was in pursuit, this means he was literally setting Traps much in the way that BHop does it. There was a point in that fight where due to the lack of a jab coming from RG that DG was able to walk himself backwards inviting Guerrero in so he can hit him with the straight right.
Like it or not those were subtle changes that he did that paid off as highly effective tactics, go look at how BHop would get comfortable with an opponent he'd walk himself to the ropes and lower his left guard/arm inviting in the attack so he could throw that straight right and then exit out at an angle, DG did this for the vast majority of the second half of the fight.
I only pointed out what happened in the last round to show that he actually showed he could still hit another gear not to prove that he was using a different tactic because he didn't, it was simply a brawl from that point on.
