Sounds like the kid is an addict. In fact, that is without a doubt, the case. They seem to be dealing with the symptoms and not the disease. Problem is that it takes some people to hit rock bottom to get their $hit together and Tommy's rock bottom is most likely the premature end of a promising boxing career.

As mentioned above it looks like Cleverly is the front-runner for the fight now. Not ultra-inspiring stuff but still arguably the best opponent of Braehmer's 16-year career.
