Tyson Fury - I may not fight again

He has said this before and he is an emotional up and down character... But he says he lacks motivation and often fighters who talk retirement have often lost their will to really fight.
Is this the case or is it another of Tyson's lower mood moments?
At the bottom there's also talk of (an extremely unlikely) offer for Klitschko and Fury to fight in front of only 120 people in Dubai, each paying $1million... No tv, no journalists, just 120 people (and assumedly judges and ref.)

I read the entire articl sensing it was all bollocks.
Got himself in the papers again, on a day when he wouldn't have. Top bit of publicity making.
The guy is nobody's fool.

You're most probably right..... Although with Tyson's mood swings you never know

I don't like his attitude of thinking he has already achieved the best thing he will ever do in boxing. Beating Wlad was an unbelievable moment, but there are a lot of other moments that could further define his career. One of those is to hold all the titles at once, which hasn't been done for a good while, and to shut down the likes of Wilder and Joshua who are heralded as the would be saviors of HW boxing.

Excellent article in the Telegraph today highlighting his presentation of the RING MAGAZINE belt. Fury said that there are currently 5 countries bidding to host the return fight with Klitschko. He doesn't regret anything he's said in the past , but will keep his opinions to himself in future.
Quite funny was his answer to the question if he'd been threatened by anyone since his public statements. Tyson said that he didn't think it was possible to threaten the heavyweight champion of the world and 'King of the gypsies'.
I can't help smiling when I read about him in the non-sport press. They just don't get it . They are so used to socialising with their luvvy duvvy, tree hugging friends in their politically correct cocoon, and destroying the lives of public figures for not sharing those views, that they just don't understand that Fury doesn't care what they think or write. Fury is surrounded by loyal friends and family and is fast becoming very rich indeed and thats all that matters to him. And I haven't seen any of the 'rent a demo' mob standing outside his house in Morecambe recently. I wonder why ?

I probably take about 10% of Fury's interviews as being true; the other 90% he clearly just makes up for a laugh.

Same here. He likes a wind up. Was only a few weeks ago he was in the ring at Wilders fight Rocky style chanting for a fight.

With Fury you never know, but he flew out to USA to jump into the ring with Wilder two weeks ago ... So he clearly wasn't thinking about retirement then.
That said I don't envisage Fury hanging around for years fighting manado rides like Lepai etc like Klitschko did. I think Fury will just want to fight the best and biggest and get out. Namely Wlad again, Wilder, Joshua, Povetkin & Haye?
He's probably just frustrated the Wlad II fight is taking time to arrange and is trying to Jimmy it along by threatening retirement ...

Part of me would love Fury to retire. Loads of people are waiting for him to lose and will be unbearable once he does. The wannabe historians would be gutted if he went out undefeated at the top.

I don't believe he'd retire now in a million years, even if he did he'd want to fight again within a year.

Yeah, I severely doubt it.... After all he's a fighting man from gypsy stock and won't bow out nor give another man born from his mother's vagina, best!

exactly. He's been on the piss (and I have reason to believe Tyson may be partial to a sniffle at times) and like many of us after a binge he's in a somber and reflective mood. What's it all about? Why do we bother? Is this all there is?
He'll be alright in a week or so.

That's an insult to wannabe historians, Jim is nowhere near their status!

I spoke to him on Monday and he never mentioned it. He talked about the rematch and his next few fights. Then again, I could have got a totally different Fury if I phoned on Tuesday instead. When in doubt, see what Peter's saying on Twitter.

Furys threats of retirement seem like some sort of pressure relief valve that he uses when he wants to detach from the business side of boxing. Its like he says it to take the weight off his shoulders and deflate all the seriousness.
In a way it reminds me of randy couture. He used to take fighting ultra seriously and would lose cos he was tense, then he changed his perspective and decided to view it as just a game, not really caring for the end result. Hey presto, his results changed. Fury seems to use the same tactic by not making everything a big deal and viewing it as just a sport. He often says at the end of the day i'll either win or lose and thats that.

They want to be careful about that. My friend went to something like this in Amsterdam once. He said it was very in your face and he would have preferred to be further away from the, um, "participants".

Did your friend pay $1 million for his ticket?

It would also sadly give so much ammunition to the people who worship the ground he walks on.
I'd rather him fight on.
Up to him of course, as it stands he can walk away as heavyweight champion of the world, I wouldn't blame him.

He's not walking away, he's on for a fortune for the rematch.

I've been told the Beeb got the "tongue-in-cheek" version of Fury.

I can't fathom how anyone (regardless of how rich they are) who saw that boring first fight could chuck a million down to see the rematch regardless of the exclusive venue.
I don't believe for a second though that Tyson is serious about walking away from boxing, the money involved in the rematch & then there are several big dollar fights beyond that.
