Floyd Mayweather Jr. Money Talk

Is it morally wrong to hope Mayweather goes broke and ends up homeless Lockridge style? If does happen, it will be one of my favorite days. I don't wish this type of fate on any other boxer but I feel Mayweather deserves it with his show boating. Here's to Mayweather pulling an MC Hammer!

I'll never understand why some people choose to be so negative. If an athlete you've never met going broke is one of your favorite days then I woukd suggest you focus on self improvement. Do something nice for somebody every day. Finance a well for the Congan Pygmies, rescue a dog, pay someone's medical bill for them. I think you'll enjoy life more.

floyd mayweather is not going to get broke.
he has no character, but he is street smart.
this is not your typical boxer not knowing
what he is doing.

Street smarts and financial smarts are two different entities.

Wow, I'm really surprised to hear that this man has made such sour grapes within folks. Honestly who really cares outside of his family what he does with his money, he isn't spending it on you so why should you be so concerned about how he flashes his cash and what he spends it on or how braggadocious he is with it? (rhetorical).

Be careful wishing bad on other folks, it may just come back to you.

pretty sure that was hyperbole. as far as the congan pygmies, why don't they just buy what they
want on amazon like the rest of us? they have same day delivery in a lot of places. maybe if you
give me their email address i'll send them a link.

I was never a fan of Mayweather the boxer, but I don't wish to see him go broke nor do I expect he will.

I'd imagine the Congo has shoddy internet service.

Though he never tested himself against the best, Floyd was the most talented boxer I've ever seen. His act was to make people hate them enough to spend money to see him possibly lose so I understand the ill will people have wishing him the worst. But I'm not one of them. If someone asked me tomorrow who was the greatest I ever saw, I'd be lying if I said anyone other than Floyd. And I hate that about me.

Come on, 49-0. He never took on the best of the best and was very particular about the people he fought. He waited until Manny was well past his prime and never took on the #1 challenger during his reign. Name one time he fought the #1 ranked guy behind him. Go ahead and impress me because I can't think of one.

Here we go again!! Manny ducked him this was admitted by Freddie Roach: listen and stop ASSuming or saying this because you Hate Floyd:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUs8yAS_qTs

He called out all the #1 Challengers during his reign, they were beaten by the time he got to them, you act as if he was the one controlling his career his entire career. Bob Arum was calling the shots for him all the way up until Floyd left him and still GBP was calling the shots after that and he fought all of the best competition available.

See and hear how they were ducking him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqQAcyKTpUA

This one explains how all those #1's lost and who he faced as a result: Floyd supposedly ducking https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJTE06LpZOs

Paul Williams openly admitting Floyd never ducked him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4fEFOoaBfs

Case closed, stop making up BS!!

Lots of rich people go broke, particularly those with poor spending habits who earned their money getting punched in the head.

Floyd seems extremely generous. That's his best quality as far as I'm concerned but it can also spell disaster if its not harnessed properly.

No doubt! I agree with you 100% and I'm not saying it's not possible for him to go broke but let's just look at what he's been doing lately; for one he seems to be more family oriented and settled with spending quality time with his kids.

He's unfairly judged because of his past, but which person amongst us hasn't had anything they wish they've never done that was stupid? He's surrounded himself with wealthy people and making a sound investment in developing his brand of Clothing, his Promotional Company and according to what I've read Buffet has plans to turn him into a multi-billionaire just like he's planning for Lebron James.

Now, if we know one thing about Floyd then that one thing is that nothing comes between him and making money. Despite the flashiness and what people perceive to be excessive spending he is always making more money than he's shelling out.

Dude will spend 4.5 mil on a Bugatti but is making money with his clothing line, boxing promotions and other commercial endorsements (Hublot watches, etc.).

I just don't believe people are looking at him fairly, just judging off their own negative perceptions.

I bet his close friend Mr Buffet didn't advise him to buy £20m worth of cars, have a string of flunkies who bleed you dry of cash and spend fortunes in casinos. If Holyfield and Tyson can go broke, so can Floyd.

then maybe 4G could be an investment that actually pays returns and gets them the well
at the same time. the congo pygmie youtube channel and livecam alone would probably
pay for the well.

I never said he couldn't. But you're comparing 3 people with totally different situations and circumstances.

Tyson was being ripped off by King, plus he was a low-life loser Coke head.

Holyfield was being bled by all of his baby momma's and his herd of kids, plus he wasn't paying his taxes properly.

Floyd is not on drugs, doesn't have issues with his baby momma's, is investing in solid businesses and surrounding himself with successful people who do nothing but make money (Buffet and Haymon).

It isn't likely that he'll go broke because he doesn't have any vices that can't be controlled like Tyson or issues with taxes like Evander and his baby momma dramas.

Good luck waiting on it to happen but I just don't see it.

Awful lot of speculation in this post.

You don't know if Floyd has a drug habit or not. He has had issues with his baby momma's and seems to have a penchant for domestic abuse, which I would certainly call a vice. He's also had tax trouble in the past.

I certainly don't wish any ill on him. I hope he lives a wonderful life and provides for his family. I hope he continues to earn a ton of money so he can be generous to whom he chooses. But boxing is a brutal sport, and it doesn't lose it's brutality when the punches stop. Fighters are quickly forgotten (even great ones) when the new flavor takes over. People aren't going to be parting with their cash to own a Floyd Mayweather brand shirt or whatever based off his accomplishments anymore. He's going to have to transcend that. We have no indication whether he can or can't do this.
