The funny thing is Hopkins vs GGG @ 168 is a far more competitve fight than Canelo vs Khan @ 155

Just comparing who has a tougher opponent between GGG and Canelo and tbh Hopkins has a decent legit chance to beat Golovkin but personally I'd like to see Gennady fighting someone like DeGale or Ramirez-Abraham winner @ 168.

I'm not sure how much Hopkins has got left in the tank. If there is something there it won't be a classic but will pose problems for GGG to work out. If his powers continue to wane then its an early night,

This is happening? A pretty interesting fight. Hopkins it way taller and I presume has a much longer reach than GGG. Hard to see him outworking GGG but hard to see GGG looking spectacular against him either.

Its not signed - just an option that's being considered, apparently.

easy night for GGG, potentially difficult night for canelo IMO

Well it would be a interesting clashing of styles and nothing more. Golovkin has nothing to win in terms of publicity or even legacy from this fight even if he'd stop Hopkins early.

Golovkin would either accept BJS's offer to fight him in UK and Canelo's offer to fight him @ 155 lbs or either goes up @ 168 and fight opponents like DeGale, Ramirez/Abraham winner or Bute/Groves winner.

Hopkins hasnt weiged below 170 in ten years, he weighed in at 170 against Pavlik eight years ago.

Golovkin was ready to fight in the UK, but BJS was still pricing himself out.

I really hope this fight won't happen ..... but if the money are good GGG's handlers could make interesting offers to Hopkins, RJJ and Toney this year. :yay: :OhYes: :OhYes:

That's disappointing. In the end Golovkin will probably have all those trinkets but no fights against quality opposition.

Hopkins makes most everyone look bad and if Kov couldn't KO him then I see no way that GGG could and it isn't likely that Golovkin can outbox him or back him up being that he is smaller.

I see an upset should this fight happen as long as BHop is offensive like he was against Murat. Hopkins uses angles, is crafty and knows every trick in the book and will do things that GGG has never had done to him in those ropes. I'd take BHop by decision but GGG is a great fighter so as long as he can keep BHop being defensive then he can win it on punch output.

It's a lose-lose situation for Golovkin. They probably think Hopkins would be too old and maybe drained but that would be a a big mistake.

DeGale or Abraham/Ramirez winner would be much better options for GGG IMO. :box:

Crap fight.
I would rather see GGG keep fighting no-hopers at middle as opposed to a move up to 168 and fight a 51-year-old, inactive fighter coming off a lop-sided loss.

You contradict your self. BHop is much bigger name then DeGale, BJS, Ramirez and Bute put together. Noone cares if he is old or not. Same way noone cares if Canelo/Cotto have no chance against Golovkin. You guys want name? This is the name.

Get it done quick, so that GGG can go back to collecting "trinkets". And we can watch Bernard get finally KOed as well.

Well, nothing to disagree with you but I think Golovkin would get more credit from the boxing fans by fighting DeGale and/or Abraham/Ramirez winner. If GGG T/K.O's an old drained Hopkins, it won't prove anything.

Mainstream doesn't know who DeGale is and not all hardcores rates him high. At the same time its a hugely difficult fight with much bigger man both weight and height. I presume DeGale is heavier then BHop on the day of the fight, and obviously higher. This is also a smaller fight money wise.

Abraham I dont rate at all myself. As super middle he was at best mediocre. I would pick BHop to beat Abraham if they fought even today.

Couldn't agree more with that part, I think Ramirez beats him though.

If only there were a site to check such things...

Anyway it highlights what a freak Hopkins is that this fight might actually be at least a linttle competitive. People think GGG needs to start getting the big fights before he starts slipping. Hopkins is 18 years his senior and debuted when GGG was 6.
