these two guys don't seem to have been discussed very often on here, or certainly not recently, that I recall. I was having a bit of a youtube binge last night and came across a few of their fights, and wondered what other posters' views on them were.

looking at records I don't see any names at all on Khaosai's roster, but the sheer number of defences, and the period of time, is pretty impressive. more impressive though is the eye-test on this guy, what a stone-killer, two-fisted, hard-swinging, fucken beast he was. seems to be more an animal of physicality than a purist's technician-sort, loads up on his punches, fucken deadly with the left uppercut to the body and really gets his weight into the head shots too. he seemed to be able to hurt and drop guys with fairly glancing shots, so I'd say he was genuinely heavyhanded, especially for the little guys (and I would guess a classic Thai of the 80s, pretty big&strong at the weight to say the least)

Khaokor's record isn't as long or gaudy-looking but contains a couple of more familiar names, to me. the first I saw of him was the TD with Moon which looked to have been shaping up as an interesting fight when it was stopped, and it looked to me that Khaokor was starting to blunt Moons aggression. this guy has some of the same qualities as Khaosai, espcially the way he digs with the left to the body- with either guy if you throw the right and fall in with it, you are absolutely goiing to have that left thudding up into your gut- but to me seemed the calmer, more polished and relaxed technician. I'd love to see if his fight with daddy vazquez was available on youtube, i can picture an interesting style clash in that one, would be interested to hear from anyone who's seen it

anyways just wondered what people think of these two in terms of where they stand next to other guys in and around their weighclasses, potential fights that coulda happened and didn't, and so on. they're both good fighters to watch in different ways and definitely worth a look if you havne't seen much of them already. Khaosia at his best, to be frank, looks pretty fucken terrifying.

Khoasai is right up there with the very best. Only the toughest of the master boxers could have beat him consistently, like Jofre. I've not watch Kaokhor at all, will hopefully get a chance over weekend.

he's a real good watch, mate. i've just seen that the Wilfredo Vazquez fight is up on youtube, that and the Moon fights are all definitely worth a watch

Veeraphol vs Khaokor would be a very interesting match, they'd beat the crap out of each other

They were often on 'fightnight' the norths weekly boxing show back in the 90's. I have a few of there fights on my youtube page but to be honest I wasnt a fan of them.

Temptation got me and I've spent last 20 mins watching them. Khaosai is the most beastly thai I have ver seen! I spent six weeks there and trained in a few gyms and didn't see anything g like him...How he weighed what he did I simply do not know. Is it even possible the guy was juiced? Incredible physique and he really know how to use it.

it wasn't just his size, though, IMO. he had that kindof explosive physicality not too common at the lower weights (Moon had it too, as it happens). might be a decent thread in its own right

I completely agree. Yes I noticed the Thais of the 80s part...I'd never really thought about it tbh in terms of juicing. I watched Galaxy a lot when I was like 16...a time when I was certain us boxers did not and never would use steroids

Never thought about it in terms of juicing either, mate, I just figured khaosai as an insane terrifying physical beast, really. The Thais certainly had a reputation for draining guys down a long way, it seemed pretty obvious Chitalada to name one would have been healthier at least one weight up and maybe more.

He lacks a marquee name on his record but you can't deny that he had great strength and phenomenal punching power with the left but he's like a fiddler crab, all one-handed.

He and his brother still hold the record for being the only twins to hold world titles at the same time, I believe. That and the weird losing defence against Espinosa are kinda what the "other" brother is largely remembered for.

I saw khaokai doing some pretty impressive bludgeoning with the right to be fair mate

What his bro should be remembered for is schooling a good fighter like moon and the daddy v win was a good one too

Every southpaw I saw him fight, khaosai massacred with both hands

I used to tape TransWorld Sports and the twins would be fighting, I saw them once box at a crocodile farm! I can't remember which of the twins it was but every time he threw a big shot the crowd shouted, 'whoa'. I think they had to really work to make weight, they looked very solid fighters and I think they had success as muay thai fighters prior to turning pro.

How do you rate them against the best guys at 115/118, the gonzalez/ Olivares / Herrera level guys?

Khaokor suffered a very odd knockout in his last fight, never seen a delay like it. I think it was more a medical incident than a knockout.

I think the great Khosai Galaxy is the only super flyweight champion inductee in the IBHOF. He was nicknamed "The Thai Tyson".

Great boxer. The only knock against him could be that he never left outside the Far East. Didn't get world wide exposure. He made 15 title defenses of the WBA World Super Flyweight Championship in 7 years (1984-1991). Retired undefeated champ. He only lost one single fight, but avenged it later. Ironically, he wasn't a lineal world champion.

I remember his fight with Edgar Monserrat. One left hook to the jaw, and that was all she wrote!

BTW: Khaosai is always dis'd for lack of decent names but off the top of my head Contreras KO'd Daddy Vazquez & Filipino Espinosa & was a bit of a handful if you let him get going, a wild rough slugger who could suddenly turn it on & box a bit, & Pical got stripped of his title for fighting Galaxy & picked it up again after getting dusted by KG... & I know every single Venezuelan ever has also picked up a couple of WBA titles but I think David Griman walked away with one or two by the end of his run.

No legends, but my boy Finito hardly racked up a murderer's row. Sometimes I think being at one weight & beating the shite outta everyone your size for a long time is under-rated, these days, when swapping divisions seems de rigeur; if a bloke climbs the weights we tend not to bat an eyelid, whereas staying at one weight & fights the same quality of opposition invokes a "Hmmm, what's he hiding?" -sorta response.

Anyway. Thai bantamweights. Fvck yeah.

Khaosai might lack the likes of Jiro Watanabe and stuff but holds notable wins over the likes of:
Elly Pical (Indonesia's first champion, 3xIBF champion)
Rafael Orono (2x WBC champion)
Israel Contreras (WBO and WBA Bantamweight title holder, beat Espinosa)
Chang-Ho Choi (former IBF flyweight champion)

I wasn't always clear from the footage who exactly he was beating up but he seemed to make a particular habit of smashing fvck out of his Korean foes

Kenji Matsumura must have had balls the size of beachballs O_O he was just 4 seconds from going 24 rounds with Khaosai in 1989....just watched some of their second fight and bloody hell both guys were looking swollen

Not only did he fight Khaosai twice but he then went on to fight Sung Kil Moon and Spanky K
