Look back at the old threads there have been some fighters that some of us (myself included) predicted would have very fruitful 2004's but so far their careers have been very quite.

What is happening to some of these careers.

1) Ryan Rhodes - Myself and Bennie (and maybe others) both predicted big things on a domestic level for the one time Spice Boy. However, I cannot remember if he has fought at all this year - been very quite indeed.

2) Jimmy Vincent - I know he's probably the chariman of the who needs him club, but its been 7 long months since he fought, and there seems no news on futher action.

3) Kelly Oliver - last fought in July of last year, had a win but what's happend.

4) Jawid Khaliq - Hasn't build on the momentum he had with his excellent wins in 2003, whats up with him - most I have heard about him was when he collected his honour from the queen.

5) Mark Winters - Was making the press about a promised shot at the British title that never happend, been very quiet since though.

6)David Burke - Heard some stories that he's a bit of a lad, but no news on the Boxing front for over a year now.

7) Floyd Havard - Was supposed to come back, went to the scales on two seperate occasions (for two different fights) failed them and dissapeared.

8). Andrew Facey - another of the who needs him club, but he's got the English title, where is he?

9). Steve Bendall - very quiet again this year.

10). Steve Conway - not had any publicity, even though he's in the top ten in most magazines and websites.

Any others that should be on the list.

Other contendors for me include - Steve Forster Jnr, Ross Minter, Wayne Alexander, Alan Jones, Krence, Long, Greenberg, Bruce Scott, and Matthew Barney.

Funny how things turn out, when Kelly Oliver won 3 consecutive ABA titles I thought he was gonna make a big impact as a pro.

Where is he now? Good question!

Vincent got injured just a week before an eliminator with Harry Dhami in Glasgow and had to pull out. Steve Foster Junior also pulled out of a couple of defences of his English featherweight title due to injury. Khaliq is celebrating his MBE and will box again in October. Winters will probably get a shot at old opponent Graham Earl down the line (if Earl beats Steve Murray). Bendall fights Scott Dann for the vacant British middleweight title in the autumn.
Wayne Alexander fights Takaloo in the autumn, too.

Kevin Lear

Kevin Lear and Howard Eastman are certainly contendors for the list, but at least we KNOW that Lear is struggle for fitness and Eastman is pulling out of events. Many of the fighters in the list, I don't know what has happend to them - untill Bennie sorted me out on a few.

Khaliq is not celebrating his MBE to the point where he can't fight. That's daft.

The reason is he has only just recovered from a serious hand injury.

With respect I think Rhodes would be wise to stay away as he has no punch resistance.... even in the talent thin domestic scene it's unlikely he can get to the top unscathed.... 8)

2) Jimmy Vincent - Stood aside against David Barnes got beat by Magee and is out of the picture.
3) Kelly Oliver -Never been the same since being KO'd by Buster Keeton
4) Jawid Khaliq - Doesnt sell tickets the turn out at his last show in Nottingham was a disgrace,Barry wont waste the 30k he has to pay him.

5) Mark Winters - Who knows? Still being kept on a promise by SN

6)David Burke ?

8. Andrew Facey- Defending his title against Thomas Mc Donut
9). Steve Bendall - Scott Dann British Title

Is Greenberg exempt from National Service?

I thought Israeli lads are supposed to serve three years, usually from the age of 18, Greenberg turned pro as a 19 year old and has been active since, he must not have done his stint in the army.

Does anybody know for sure if:

a) He's done National Service already without my knowledge

b) He's exempt (if so why?)

c) He's going to do it in the future

d) National Service is no longer mandatory in Israel

e) His status as an international sportsman is service enough to his country

Not sure what passport Greenburg holds, either Russian or Israeli he is due to do national service..... Probably doesnt have to as he is a professional athlete.

Greenburg is out again in September I think.....

He is in London/Windsor at the moment

Roman is currently training with his manager Jim Evans at Evans' gym in Maidenhead. Jim takes him out running at 5:30am every morning in the hills around Cookham. He does this with all his fighters. Probably the most enthusiastic trainer/manager in the country. A good trainer too. I've had a few workouts with him, and they're painful, but good fun. Great technical man too.

Erik Teymour was down training with Jim Evans last month and really enjoyed it and found it very beneficial......
