Wow, that's risky for AJ. I think Martin is underrated, but kudos for both for making.

I wonder what Furys big news is? Wilder? Perhaps Klitschkos retired.

Can't see much past a win for AJ.

Not to discount Martin but I can't see it.

Safest route for AJ too. Gives him and Hearn a World Title and keeps away the real danger men for as long as they feel.

Based on his performance against Glazkov, I expect Charlie Martin to lose to Joshua.

Kudos to Martin for taking this fight right away.
I honestly expected him have at least one defense against a no-hoper before facing anyone decent.

I haven't seen enough of Joshua to really learn anything about him but I have never been impressed with Martin...

Great matchmaking.
It puts two unknown quantities (at the "top" level) in the ring.
The winner then is proven ready for anyone and a force.

Wait, this is a for a championship ... ugh, boxing

I hope Fury's Big news is actually big news, unlike Helenius' big news which wasn't.

Good fight of both. The winner can coast with 1 or 2 easy "title" defenses.

for some reason the whole scenario reminds me of Tony Tucker's short reign.... Hope Martin wins the fight though... and that Joshua will come back strong....

Before anything, massive respect to Charles Martin for fighting Anthony Joshua. Unlike Wilder, who fought guys that lost several fights before, like Molina or Duhaupas, Martin actually offers the best possible opponend out there the titlefight straight away.
If Wilder loses against Povetkin I'll allways respect Martin over Wilder for simply fighting the best possible opponent out there, just like the Klitschko's allways did.

I expect AJ to win within 5 rounds, yes, AJ showed a worser show as expected against Whyte, but Whyte would probably win against Wilder or/and Martin.

That should be the other way around. Martin has been chasing Joshua as he believes Joshua will be a good win for him. I'd like to see Joshua win and I think he will but it wouldnt surprise me if Martins decision to pick out Joshua from the bunch pays off for him.

Its all top level opponents right now for Joshua should he win. Will he fight all the best opponents like you say a real champion should? Well it all starts on April 9th.

Vitali always defended against the best available? Are you sure? Wlad did, much like resume this is a spot where too many let vitali piggyback his little brothers credentials.

seems like a big step up for Joshua

but really despite the huge busy early record for martin, Martin hasn't really fought anyone of real class (including Glazkov)

but this must surely be an entertaining fight while it lasts...and IF it happens

I agree, Martin will be making serious life changing money here so why wouldn't he want the fight? I bet there is s rematch clause in case its close or controversial (like a silly stoppage the British refs are known for) so 2 massive paydays potentially.

I really like the fight! Both guys are really unproven on the heavyweight scene, but credit to both for making this fight. I favor Joshua, only because I have only seen Martin a few rounds, and Joshua one fight.

It's a Win/Win for Martin.

If he's good, he'll prove himself.

If he's not so good, why should he risk losing to Travis Kauffman in Reading, PA for peanuts?

As others alluded to, this must be Big $$$ for Martin !

He's fighting for the mandatory spot for Wilders title against Wilders second best opponent. A lot of people are mad he's not fighting that British journeyman coming off a huge win over Andras Csomor.
