Anthony Joshua beat Joseph Parker to a world heavyweight title shot
Anthony Joshua has got the jump on his Kiwi rival Joseph Parker by securing a world title fight.
The unbeaten Joshua will fight American IBF champion Charles Martin at London's O2 Arena on April 9.
The fight was confirmed on Monday (NZ time), and comes amid speculation of bouts in the heavyweight division that has opened up following the recent defeat of long-time champion Wladimir Klitschko.
Parker and Joshua have been trading taunts via videos and social media.
But it is the 26-year-old Olympic champion who has got the jump with a title bout.
Parker's handlers are yet to announce his next opponent for a year where they hope to move him to a mandatory position for a title fight.
Parker is ranked No 1 with the WBO, No 6 with the WBA and IBF, and No 11 with the WBA.
