I'd say it's gonna be Harris in Oct now - well done Hatton, about time he stood up to Warren - full respect to the lad!!

From the BBC -

Hatton issues Warren threat

Ricky Hatton has threatened to walk away from promoter allegedly if he does not get his shot at WBA champion Vivian Harris in October.
The 25-year-old WBU light-welterweight holder has become frustrated at the quality of his opposition.
"I am mandatory challenger for Harris," Hatton told the Daily Express.
"And if I don't get him next, then I will have to seriously consider where I am going with my career and I will think about going it alone."
Hatton expressed his concern at being an outsider on the world boxing stage.
"I seem to have been sitting in the ring apron for the last few years now and hearing the same old story, that this is going to be my year.
"I cannot keep waiting. Warren and I have a great relationship and he has done brilliantly with my career, but he knows he has to deliver for me because the situation cannot continue.

"I am fed up sitting in front of the box and watching Miguel Cotto, Arturo Gatti and Sharmba Mitchell. All of them are saying Hatton never leaves his living room and right now they are right."

thats great news. I love the part that he says "they are right". He's not conning himself into believing anything. Fair play to the lad. Im not his biggest fan, but cred where cred is due. Go get 'em Ricky.

If Hatton beats Harris, why on earth does he need to fight Witter?

Calzaghe has said similar stuff before, but that feel more geniune. Its well put by Hatton aswell, nothing derogitory at all - just the truth.

it is about time, get rid of Warren and get American promoter,Main Event would be the go they have Gatti and Harrison and these fight could make Hatton a globe super star

The difference is, Calzaghe came across as making excuses. Everyone else was always ducking him, and he claimed to have 'cleaned out the division.'

Hatton comes across as being quite hard on himself compared to Calzaghe, he feels he needs to prove himself, whereas Calzaghe often appeared to have already marked himself down in the 'future greats' column, despite the fact that his best wins are against an aged and weight drained Eubank (still a good performance mind) and Byron Mitchell.

Calzaghe always seemed happy with his lot in life, wheras Hatton won't be satisfied (I get the impression) until he has proven to himself and his fans that he is truly world class, or gets defeated trying.

good luck to Hatton

Agreed 100% Witter needs to earn the right to be in the ring with Hatton...Thats coming from a Witter fan as well...

This probably comes in light of Frank's recent comments in the NOTW ( this Sunday apparently? ). He was moaning about there being no Showtime available for his Oct 2nd date, booked at the MEN. ( didn't he check first?! )
And as we know from previous experience, this means no cash for a meaningful fight and another obscure lightweight.

Alarm bells must be ringing.

Same date for Tito/Mayorga isn't it? Better make it PPV then.
The big NY fight, plus Harris/Hatton would leave no-one complaining I think.

by don't call it a comeback
Well I hope it happens....great words from Ricky and shows the ambition is still there despite the cash. Warren knows he has to deliver now...no doubt he wants to to keep hold of Ricky...thing is, is he competent enough to get the negotiations right? His recent track record is poor when it comes to sealing or (in the Johnson case) delivering the deal.

still, well done Ricky for laying it on the line

Now it's up to Mr Warren to deliver "Vicious" Vivian Harris, a man willing to fight Hatton, willing to travel and willing to defend a genuine world title. No excuses this time, Mr Warren. Do it.

Well this is EXACTLY the same scenario as with Sharmba Mitchell.

British - Commonwealth - European Champion.

Good enough reasons.

If Stephen Smith etc are good enough. Why not Witter ?.

I'm not that arsed about this fight happening. If Witter gets himself in the running for a belt and grabs one, then I'd like to see the two men face off.

There are plenty of other fighters Witter should take on outside of Hatton. The truth is that Witter knows he has very little leverage, can you see Gatti, Mayweather, Judah, Harris or Tszyu clamouring for a showdown with Witter. I somehow don't think so. Witter as far as I am aware, doesn't even have a full time promoter on board, so he's hardly a hot commodity.

Belts are not everything.

The WBU is shit.

Hatton Vs Witter for no belts would suit me.

I sick of the Showtime argument. I mean is Harris going to be demanding $5m to fight Hatton? Like f*ck. I strongly suspect Harris fancies he'll take Hattons head off and will accept whatever he is offered (within reason) to travel over here and do it.

Enough BS let's get it on.

Of course the WBU is shit, I am saying I would rather they both went on to capture a genuine belt, and then were part of a unification battle, rather than one knock the other off. Surely better to have two world class operators in the mix than one?

Warren has said he can definately deliver both fights...Hatton should give him no choice and demand that it's Harris.

I actually think Hatton would win this fight

In fact, I am more certain of that than I am that the fight will happen at all.

I still expect him to step in the ring with Spadafora in October

What about since Judah.

At least Witter got in wth Judah !

Hatton runs from ( in no particular order )

Judah
Corley
Witter
Mayweather
N'dou
Harris
Mitchell

And that is a fact !

I supsect Witter would jump at thye chance to fight any of them !
