Biggest domestic opponent duckers?

I wrote a post in Kevin Mitchell's retirement thread about how many domestic opponents that he didn't fight:
Didn't fight: Alex Arthur, Nicky Cook, Michael Gomez, Anthony Crolla, Amir Khan, Terry Flanagan, Gavin Rees, Derry Mathews, Willie Limond, Luke Campbell, Tommy Coyle, Liam Walsh, John Simpson, Scott Cardle, Graham Earl, Gary Sykes, Gary Buckland, Stephen Foster, Craig Docherty, Jon Thaxton, Martin Gethin, Lee McAllister, Scott Lawton, Henry Castle, Billy Corcoran, Andy Murray, Eddie Hyland, Oisin Fagan, Ryan Barrett & Sean Dodd.

Fought: Carl Johanneson, John Murray & Ricky Burns.
Am I being unfair to Kevin Mitchell?

I was just wondering how many worse domestic opponent duckers there have been in recent years as well as all time.

Yes you are being unfair, he got in the ring with Katsidis and Linares who with the exception of Khan are better than all of them, besides you can't fight everyone, he fought two domestic rivals in Murray and Burns, beating one of them.

I don't think Mitchell would have feared anyone on that list.

Why didn't he fight more of them then?

Foreign opponents are far, far less interesting P4P.

Mitchell perhaps thought that he was too good to fight domestic opposition?

Not good enough for me.

Mitchell could have had a far better career than he did.

He fought far too many foreigners.

As I said you can't fight everyone and in an era where boxers rarely fight more than 3 times a year it's even less likely.

He couldn't have fought all of them, but he only fought three of them.

Pretty pathetic really.

Who has ducked more than Mitchell?

Have a go at his management then, this may as come as a surprise to you Horse but boxers don't pick fights.

This may come as a surprise to you, but fighters do have a say in who they fight and how their careers go.

Mitchell routinely ducked the best that Britain and Ireland had to offer.

Which other domestic fighters from the last decade or two have avoided more domestic fights?

I'd like you to list at least ten of those fighters that Mitchell could've fought at any stage of his career, meaning when their paths had a chance of crossing.

never really thought about it but how many top british fighters have fought more than a dozen other brits ? not many I bet , it seems the path to tread is win the lonsdale belt and move on to european then world level , it seems to be journymen and those the box below top level that fight more domestic rivals . I believe Mitchell has given us great entertainment over the years regardless of who he has fought .

Pretty much all of the fighters that I named were realistic opponents for Mitchell.

Mitchell ducked out. Does he have a yellow streak?

Can anyone name another domestic fighter who avoided more domestic opposition than Mitchell?

Can anyone name the 2nd biggest ducker of domestic opposition after Mitchell?

You are wrong. The post is absurd.

Mitchell was never a world level fighter and he was only barely a European level fighter.

He most certainly should have fought more domestic opposition.

Mitchell could have been a domestic legend.

He could have had class. He could have been somebody, instead of being the bum that he is, let's face it.

Yup. Also, Derry Matthews, Crolla, Buckland are names that came to mind whove fought a lot of decent-level domestic opposition.

I'm not wrong.

Can you name some fighters who have ducked more domestic opposition?

Kell Brook fought: Karl David, Barrie Jones, Kevin McIntyre, Stuart Elwell, Michael Lomax, Michael Jennings, Matthew Hatton & Frankie Gavin.

I hate Kell Brook but... Kell Brook > Kevin Mitchell.

John Simpson's fought just about everybody over the last decade or so too.

I bet Kev feels like a right pudendum for ducking Flanagan instead of choosing Barroso. He could have earned £500,000 and fought for a world title but he took a risk and fought for a mandatory position to fight Crolla but got knocked out and sent into retirement. Maybe had he beat Terry Frank would have had an option on him but who cares it just means another payday.

that's sort of my point , with the exeption of maybe Crolla , they are not top level operators , good domestic and european level fighters none the less.
