No way they put him in with Parker.

Parker should take it though if offered. He would crush Hughie

Id love to see Shannon Briggs given a go over here. I think he's a great opponent for Hughie at this stage just to see if he has anything. I dont think Hughie would beat Briggs though even though Briggs is a past sell by date fighter. But would be fun to watch.

I don't see the need to rush Hughie. He's only 21, is still growing, developing and filling out. No need to throw him in with world/fringe world contenders like Ustinov or Parker yet.

Although saying that, he should be fighting better than Larry O and Zarate now. Give him either a few British and Euro level fighters like Cornish, McDermott, Gerber and Mansour.

Much too soon though for him to stepping up to the world and fringe world level.

Sam Sexton, Solomon Haumono, Francesco Pianeta, Alexander Dimitrenko and Edmund Gerber should all be on the list this year.
No rush for big Hughie...

Don't think it would be wise to throw him in with Mansour yet, he looks quite handy and would probably rough Hughie up a bit. agree with a lot of the rest though, Sexton would be perfect.

agree on avoiding Mansour for now, hes a banger and could be dangerous at this stage...

They were really close to agreeing a deal with Bryant Jennings last week but couldn't finalise financials.
Reading along those lines you'd guess Malik Scott maybe.

No, I'd guess a journeyman.

Why would anyone guess that it is going to be someone good, considering that Hughie's team have been pulling this rubbish for two years now?

Some of the weaker names in major sanctioning body top 10s (I'm assuming that it's not going to be someone significantly above this level):

Solomon Haumono (the weakest IMO)
Andrey Fedosov
Edmund Gerber
Trevor Bryan
Jarrell Miller
Michael Wallisch

So it seems like it won't be Fedosov, while Miller and Bryan are both Haymon prospects and I doubt they'd come over. Wallisch went 12 last month and based on his rate of activity it also seems unlikely to be him, leaving Gerber and Haumono, who would be my two leading candidates if it is someone in a major sanctioning body top 10. The worst names that I didn't include are probably Andy Ruiz (unbeaten Top Rank prospect), Fres Oquendo (has a Chagaev rematch ordered), Shannon Briggs (IMO waiting on something bigger), and Ustinov (already said by Peter to have turned it down). If I'm looking above these types Stiverne comes to mind based on how bad he looked last fight and his pro history of struggling against tall fighters with busy jabs.

Haumono is thought to be a lock for Parker's next fight in NZ so cannae see it being him. It'll do decent business over there I'd think

I know Haumono was mentioned as a potential JP opponent, but I didn't know he was essentially a lock for that position.

I know a few Aussies over hear and all they were hearing from back home was that it was going to be Haumono. Takam is a much better fight though, the heavyweight division is really putting some good match ups together - Fury's win has lit the touchpaper :TU:

"getting closer to announcing an opponent" I know he may have been let down by a couple of opponents etc but it does have the feeling he went to the Eddie Hearn school of how to make an announcement.
