I can't see anyone else coming down to NZ to fight him so it wouldn't suprise me.

It would only get Parker a call to step it up. Everybodys asking for Parker to step it up in the calibre of his opponents. Hes under pressure to step it up. Haumono vs Parker will just dissapoint his fans no matter how devastating a knockout win he puts together.

Pretty much, especially with they way his promoters hype him up as if he's already better than Fury/Klitchko etc.

Being #1 In WBO hes already gets a world title shot vs winner wlad and fury , he just cant afford ti lose a fight so i cant see duco risking him with someone like a tony thompson.

Not interested.....I'd like Parker to step up and fight someone better than Haumono, especially after fighting weak opposition in his last two bouts.

He'd be a good opponent IMO...much better than 40 year old Haumono.

Right now Team Parker are treading water and dont NEED a tough fight or risky fight as they await the outcome of a couple of the big heavyweight title fights namely

Joshua/Martin
\Wilder/Povetkin (if it gets made anytime soon)
Browne/Chagaev

More so the Joshua/Martin fight, but as they are ranked with all of the top 4 they have options in terms of which way to head. A Solo fight makes sense right now to be honest. He carries some name recognition, won the PABA title in his last bout, can punch so brings that element of danger to keep fans interested, has a good record, it does tick a few boxes as some have mentioned. Solo runs hot and cold in my opinion, IF he can turn up in great shape on the back of a great training camp he certainly carrys some pop and if he can tag Joe early and get him hurt it could get really interesting. Sure at 40 his best days are behind him, so chances are slim but the first 1-3 rounds would be very interesting BUT i still see Parker stopping him inside 4

Parker is WBO #1 and if his priority is landing the winner of Fury vs Wlad, he finds himself in a similar situation to what Browne was leading up to fighting Chagaev for his title. Whereby he couldn't afford to risk losing lest he jeopardize the chance of a lifetime.

At least in Parker's case he has age on his side. But Browne, at his age, had to ensure he didn't let the chance go by and may very well have jeopardized his chances with the very poor lead-up fights he had.

Sounds like a good way for him to go into a title fight unprepared, at least if he's going to fight a titlist soon (and if not, why face soft opposition until those bouts have been decided?). I can understand him not being matched with top contenders, but I don't think he needs to steer clear of a top 30/40 opponent like Christian Hammer.

His opposition is going backward at this point.

He won't be anywhere near the winner of that fight. First it will be the Ortiz-Ustinov winner, then a voluntary or unification, followed by the WBO mandatory against an opponent TBD.

I agree it would be far from ideal. But it's not that uncommon for fighters now to go into title fights or other big fights with comparatively poor lead-in fights. For example >>>

In the lead-up to fighting Chagaev, Lucas Browne will have fought only twice in 19 months, for a total of less than 14 -most of them poor quality rounds - against two very ordinary opponents in Welliver and Long.

In the lead-up to fighting Haye, Mark de Mori.........well, what can you really say about de Mori's record and lead-in?

I don't get it. Is he really waiting for the outcome of the Fury/Klitchko rematch? If that's the case, he needs to get some actual fights under his belt pronto.

He's wasting his time with another fight against someone outside the top 100. He needs to have a fight with someone inside the top 30 and actually start pushing himself, otherwise he's going to be in very deep water with the likes of someone like Fury or Klitchko.

Is he filling some kind of contractual obligations in New Zealand before he can start fighting in Europe/US?

Word is April opponent could be Cristian Hammer 18-4-0. Personally I'd rather see the Haumono fight. Solo carries more pop and brings in the trans Tasman rivalry factor (better from a promotional point of view) Like I said personally IF it was going to be HAmmer then I dont see why Haumono would be any worse? Other than the fact Hammer has been more active and is ranked higher but really end of the day beating HAmer wont torpedo Parker any higher up the ladder than beating Solo

I think Hammer, a former world amateur champion, is roughly a top 30 fighter, whereas Solo is probably near the bottom end of the top 100 at 40 years old. They have one common opponent, Kevin Johnson, and Hammer won a unanimous decision over Johnson in 2013 while Haumono was dominated and knocked out by Johnson earlier that year.

As far as climbing the ladder, I think a win over a fringe-contender like Hammer, who has fought at the highest level, would be more well-receive globally than a win over 40 year old Haumono, who is pretty much a nobody on the world boxing stage.

Its not a good fight in my opinion for Parker if he fights Sol it'll put him in a no win situation if he struggles but still gets the win people will say he struggled with a fighter who's in his 40's and he isn't known really at all in the States or the UK for that matter and if Parker blows Sol away even in spectacular fashion the number 40 will come up again and then we factor in the pop Sol has in his punch's then I would think its a bad fight for Team Parker.

Yes, and Parker has already fought 3 opponents in their 40s and a few others who were 39; it's not a good look if he faces yet another person in that age group.

Hammer is only 28 and there will be no criticism of his age.
