It's almost impossible to keep count of how many belts there are these days. The simple answer is way too many.

In this article the writer has gone to the trouble of counting >>>

Ah who cares? It's always been a joke in boxing and it's just a prop at this point to help out the ring walk. The Lineal Championship is all that most knowledgeable fans care about. In most divisions, you can pinpoint the real champion aka the man that beat the man. In very rare case like we have in the Light Heavy division, you can lose the lineal championship by being a pussy and avoiding someone like Adonis has been doing. Most recognize Kovalev as the lineal champion.

I agree there's too many but really, I don't care.

Plenty of belts means plenty of fights. Like take tomorrow's fight. If there was just one belt and Rigo was still holding the super-bantamweight belt hostage, defending it once a year no way would we be getting that fight. Likewise Joshua vs Martin which I think will be pretty good; no way would Joshua face Martin if a trinket wasn't at stake.

So really, as long as we keep getting good "world title" fights, I'm for the high number of belts.
