And very materialistic! Let's be honest with the american public you are only a good as your last fight (I'm sure you've heard that one before)
and they throw you under the bus turning their attention to the next hot prospect. The next HOT topic

I know this because back in the day
they used to have Pride Fighting Championships an mma based organization in Japan and I swear 60% of their fighters were guys that were on a
losing streak here in America, but when they signed with that organization making the move to Japan the public their welcomed them and treated
them like rockstars and you can see it in their performances too! It's like they were born again! Even guys like Bob Sapp who had nothing going for
him but his size and he would gas out pretty fast in his fights they still treated him EVERY FIGHT like they were about to get a treat watching him
fight anything could happen dont blink!

Guys like Ken Shamrock, Mark Coleman, Don Frye, Gary Goodridge, Kevin Randleman,
etc...They were always treated with respect and you can tell it impacted their self confidence, to be still treated like rockstars. Adrien Broner
in Japan would be huge! Here in america? Adrien Broner who??? David Lemiux in Japan would have a terrifying reputation despite his loss to
GGG. Here in the states? David Lemiux who????? NEXT!!!! Even Danny Garcia who has held it down for YEARS still doesn't get any respect! In
Japan Danny Garcia would be a freaking LEGEND

he would literally have legendary status being undefeated all these years. You
see I'm getting it Japan they treat their fighters like comic book heros of sorts. Here in america they simply turn their back on you after a couple of
losses. I'm US born and raised just calling it like I see it American boxing media and the public in general are the most materialistic and only
love you when you're hot!

and listen to Tyson's reception! I'm telling ya'll the Japanese treats their fighters, idolizes their fighters even past their prime like Superman
Batman Incredible Hulk type of figures! Look at this vid and turn up your volume!

Bvllsh!t.
Mr. and Mrs. HypeJob will be fine if they comeback. They were both absorbed by their own hype.
Ali was not undefeated and he will be remembered long after FMJ is forgotten. FMJ played the game beautifully but, if he would have fought Pac 5 or 6 years ago his career would be far more memorable. Did SRLs loss to Duran finish him? What if he had waited 6 years to fight him and he skipped The Hitman and Hagler altogether?
What if Ali had waited to fight Frazier until he had been ktfo by Foreman and he skipped Foreman altogether?

Your post was all over the place bud. But you made a good point. From an American standpoint too many guys are afraid to lose. There is no doubt about it and that is part of what has ruined boxing in North America. So much importance has been put on the '0' in your record instead of who you have fought. Floyd made such big deal out of his 0 that I think it has affected boxers for decades to come. That is why you do not see guys fighting each other. Especially in North America. Guys should be more concerned with their resume and instead it is taking fights with the least amount of risk. Floyd exploited this in America and if you look at his resume and break it down it is just not that impressive at all.

Floyd has a fantastic resume. You can dislike the guy all you want, but to pretend he didn't fight and defeat good fighters is ridiculous. He's got wins over multiple Hall of Famers

Exactly this. I thought this opinion would have gone away by now, instead it seems to be regaining momentum.
To the main point of the topic, boxing in the US is dictated by casual fans. The guys who ONLY watch boxing on HBO, Showtime and big PBC cards. If this is the case, then fans will naturally gravitate only to the spectacular or well marketed.

You got real fans like myself though that like to see good competitive matchmaking, and have enough sense to know that a single loss doesn't ruin a guy.
I don't think American Fight fans are as obsessed with the 0 as people think either. The 3 biggest draws in North America right now are probably still Canelo, Cotto and Pacquiao...all of whom have losses.
Andre Ward is an unbeaten American and he couldn't draw flys to sh*t.

Oh yeah who wouldn't be impressed by Floyd's wins over Victor Ortiz, Andre Berto, Robert Guerrero late in his career. Those were just awesome!! I am so impressed. Also those great wins over Baldomir and gate keepers like Corley and he beat DLH in DLH's second to last fight. On that resume, he is the greatest ever!!

But he is protective of his zero and has hardly fought the last 4 years. Americans are obsessed with the 0. Wilder, garcia, Thurman and on and on prove me out.

Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Diego Corrales, Arturo Gatti....2 Hall of Famers there, and 3 more or so who are sure fire Hall of Famer's when they retire

I don't like Andre Ward AT ALL, but he's got one of the best resumes in the sport. He hasn't fought anybody of late, but he's got wins over several good fighters. He practically cleaned out the Super Middleweight division at the time during the Super 6 Tournament.

Ricky Hatton up in weight for that fight. JMM up 2 weight classes. Keep going. You are proving my point more and more. Not that hatton was all that great to begin with.

And who was in that Super 6 tourney? The lead footed Froch?? If Kovalev, Calzaghe, Jones, Stevenson and Beterbiev were in the Super 6 at the time, NOW you are talking. Instead it was Allen Green, Glen Johnson, Abraham, Dirrell. It was average at best.

Floyd has one of the best resumes in the history of the welterweight division.
Did Hatton say he had any trouble making weight? If not, then it's not an issue.
He still has gatti, mosley (who was #1 Contender at the time), cotto, pac, maidana, castillo, prime judah and canelo.
Who do you have ahead of him in terms of resume?

Outside of Lucian Bute it was the best fighters the Super Middleweight division had to offer at the time.

Marquez wound up knocking out Manny Pacquiao and fighting him dead even pretty much at that same weight class where he was shut out against Floyd.
Ricky Hatton isn't an ATG fighter, but he was a very good fighter, and was the physically stronger man in the Mayweather fight. Mayweather was just the better fighter. Weight isn't a determining factor when 2 guys are the same size. Look at the fight between Mayweather and Hatton does it look like Mayweather has some big size advantage to you in that fight...or any advantage at all? If it does you need your eyes checked.
To this day nobody has ever beaten Marquez as decisively as Floyd beat him. That's gotta be worth something.

Exactly. The division pretty much sucked. Exactly my point.
