yeah and that was a great achievement for a fighter who is rather limited but as of late, nothing warrants this at all he looked absolutely dreadful vs. figueroa.

Burns arguably deserved the decision against Figueroa. He didn't look awful in that fight.

Title aside it's a solid fight.

Maybe Burns will eventually become a Broner-esque four division champ.

No, he really didnt. Lets be sensible now. He was hanging on for much of the fight after about 6 rounds. It was a brave and plucky performance but he no way deserved the decision.

in my opinion, horse, if you think he deserved that decision mate i don't think scoring fights is a strong point of yours

agreed , no way he won that fight , totally shot to pieces , seems like a really nice bloke tho' and wish him all the best .

you can throw the "many people thought he won it" card out all you want... but many people also agree with liamlion and i and think that he lost it because he kept holding so what does that even prove to say many people thought this or that?

you can't state someone is wrong because they don't agree with your opinion, you had no part at all in scoring the fight (thank god) and had no power in the decision so you are just another man with an opinion, nobody is right or wrong, the fight was scored how it was, it is what it is, and rightfully so burns lost

We all know this isnt a world title fight for Burns,its the paper WBA belt,and i know the Di Rocco isnt an inspired opponent but he is a solid European level fighter which is what Ricky has shown himself to be since signing with Eddie

But back to the belt,most people can accept its not a world title but more and more we see the Regular belt paraded as a world title and the (only) good thing about that is that it attracts bigger fights against fighters trying to get back into the big time and sometimes even "unifications"

Ergo=we know this belts poo but if Burns can beat Di Rocco which im just about sure he can then Eddie's knows he's no time to eff about with Ricky so we should see Burns get a swansong in a big fight in Glasgow where Camp Ed can try and claw back some of the money he's lost in signing him

Im kind of somewhere in-between the opinions regarding the Figueroa fight. I think Burns made a decent account of himself, the referee was very quick to pull Ricky up on his fouling but seemed to have the blinkers on whenever the home fighter was guilty of similar tactics. Ricky may not have won the fight but he was in there against two men that night, if anyone thinks im exaggerating then they should watch the fight back. A fair referee that night and i reckon Figueroa may well have found himself in a different fight.

I don't begrudge Burns his shot here. He deserves a little luck.

As for the OF fight, I thought it was close. The scorecards and ref were shambolic. OF probably shaded it but Burns was up against it from the first bell.

What happened to Burns staying at lightweight and not venturing back unto light-welter..... Oh I see a paper title.

I'm glad he's got another shot he's looked good recently.
Can't remember my Figueroa scorecard will check later but I might of also had Burns edging it. He really showed some flaws in Omar's game and the referee was absolutely shocking against Burns.

No less an authority than Thomas Hauser scored it for Burns.

He also had Bradley beating Pacquaio in their 1st fight,Hauser is a knowlegable chap but it seems he struggles to score fights
