found it so difficult to get top opponents. of
course there are always great contenders whose
fans claims they are ducked by everyone, but not
so much a reigning champ.

to me this is one clear effect of the many weight
classes and belts available. people get away with
this and still hold belts and reputation.

canelo will eventually have to face him, but to me
he clearly plays the same game as floyd did with
manny: watch the decline before you step in.

People are jumping to another division instead of fighting Rigo. Paul Williams was fighting 147 to 160 to get fights. This shit wouldn't happen if there were 1 belt per division.

Canelo will be able to avoid him if he really wants to. The boxing commissions don't give much of a shite so long as they are earning, and Canelo brings a lot of money to the table.

i am angry about one of the best boxers
of this generation wasting his prime. that's
it. and i thought about a similar situation
and no one came to mind. which doesn't
mean much, that's why i started the thread
to find other examples.

i am totally aware that upcoming, dangerous
opponents are avoided because they offer bad
risk/reward ratios to the champ. but that is not
the case here. GGG is an established p4p top 10
fighter and still has no name on his belt an no
one in sight.

Even the visa people avoid Rigo.

Winky was avoided in his prime then as soon as the downhill slope started and his weight increased they all wanted him.

Yep, boxing would be so much more exciting if there were strict unification mechanisms in place or better one real title per division.

In that ideal world, Golovkin would have already unified the MW division (somewhere around 2012), SMW division and would be now pushed to move up and fight an undisputed LHW champion (Kovalev or Beterbiev).

prime ggg is arguably the most ducked in a long time. at least sergio martinez, margarito and wright faced williams, so funny ducked boxers boxed ducked boxers. but ggg, only lemeauix, if you consider lemieaux good quality was the only one willing to face ggg. other than that ggg only faced b- - c level. cotto, canelo, jacobs stay away as far as they can from ggg.

Yes i agree, it appears those with the belts are the ones mainly avoiding him, the lower ranked fighters are willing to get in there with him without no fuss because for them it's a win-win situation but truly GGG is not amongst avoided in history.
