Bare Knuckle Boxing

I've noticed over the last couple of years that BKB is more and more common, there seems to be shows all over the country, there is even a show booked to take place at york hall,
what I want to know is
1, I thought bare knuckle fighting was illegal ? so how come they are taking place and advertised all over the place, they say that the local councils and police are informed and they are granted a licence ?
2, what would happen if someone is seriously hurt or killed, who would be responsible, would anyone be charged ?
how would it look in the press if the police and councils have issued a licence ?

I think they wear hand-wraps which gets around the illegal part.

Bare knuckle boxing is illegal. The chaps you're on about promote events where a token gesture of wrap padding gets by the law makers. If someone gets hurt, there'll be a few affected sharp intakes of breath and talking head bollocks but nobody will really give a fornicate. It's only a fighter.

Ex Commonwealth Champ Kevin "Bulldog" Bennett is also doing it, he's stopped all of his opponents with body shots

I met McCrory, the heavyweight champion, at Frampton-Quigg, lovely bloke. As I said including the other topics forum, a friend of mine is involved when not locked up, as he is now. I agree with the film maker, it does seem most involved are lost souls.

Crikey there's a name. A Wolverhamptonion who made Hartlepool Borough Hall his own, by way of the Royal Navy I think....
I think my first pro show (watching) was Bennett vs a Liverpool lad called Gary Ryder. The roof came off for Bennett - but then Ryder got him to the body around 6 I think. Very good match. Ryder was determined that night.
Also on the bill - Ricky the Riddle. Against Hussein Osman. Wpts6 not that I'm an anorak or anything.

I checked out one of benetts bkb fights and it was brutal. The other dude, who allegedly had 100 'white collar' fights, looked like he could handle himself on a basic level but was totally outclassed (as you expect against a former commonwealth champ)

Good documentary whether you like the "sport" or not isnt it.
Im same, my trainers brother comes in the gym every now and again but is a bit, well, distant. He's fought all over country but two or three of his fights have been within 15 miles of us and we havent bothered going.
No word of a lie, but the guy has a hardcore following of travellers in North Wales who follow him all over the country. One or two also pay him to train their kids 1-1.

I had a bareknuckle fight years ago (no wraps) I won (broke the other lads collarbone) but I couldn't use my hands properly for days afterwards.

I thought it might have been Dudley or somewhere else but I thought he was an ex-Navy boxer actually. Think the BN covered him a bit back.
