now that the arena is finished i have to say, that i am a bit dissapointed, i understand it cant be a mega stadium like at&t stadium, but 20.000 seats for boxng and simply the way it looks isnt what i expected, overall to small.

i mean boxing can realy make huge amount of money with ppv and tickets, shouldnt they have build a bigger arena? what if in the next 10 years a superstar boxer a la mayweather or oscar de la hoya comes out, simply a huge ppv and ticket draw and than have an arena only for 20.000 people, back than over 100.000 gathered to see a jack dempsey box. imagine ticket selling if today prime mike tyson vs prime muhammad ali would happen, you could fill 2 times wembley with this kind of fight. and the best vegas has to offer is a new 20.000 arena

Be interesting to see how it looks and feels when Canelo-Khan fight.
Vegas boxing isn't about the Boxing fans. They want to entice the high rollers in and get them into the casino.
Vegas crowds aren't always knowledgable hence the reason you often hear booing even if a fight is technically very good.

The gate isn't where the money is. Having 30,000 nose bleeds would actually take away from the atmosphere and inhibit the ability to charge top dollar for the good ones. They regularly have to give away seats anyway.

Don't forget they built that for MMA as much as for boxing by the way. It is actually a perfect size for what it was built for. I thought they might go for 30 to 40 but they wanted a size also that might be just right for a NHL hockey or NBA basketball team as well as boxing and MMA. You are only looking at it from a boxing which is just foolish. It is going to be used for many different things and MMA will bring in BIG money in that arena as well. I would expect that UFC 200 will be held there.

Don't think the MGM grand is much bigger, maybe 30k.

There's no fighter today I can think of capable of filling 100,000 seaters in the US.

There's no fighter today I can think of capable of filling 100,000 seaters in the US.

mgm grand garden is around 16.800, t-mobile is the new mgm arena, t-mobile paid for the naming rights.

if carl froch vs george groves can fill up wembley, than believe me, with the right under card and main event 100.000 in the usa would come to 1 event.

Have to say. Atmosphere at mgm isnt great. I saw marquez v pacman first fight. The crowd were booing at ond point.

Vegas is a strange place. Most people there arent dight fans.

Froch v groves must have had the biggest attendance of any fight for several decades. Doubt anyone topped than since chavez sr.

sad that arguably the most important boxing spot: mgm grand garn arena is more made for rich people, than for fan embiance. but you are not the first, i often heard that mgm has not a good atmosphere. but sure, rich peple who can pa 1000 + for 1 seat are known to be boring people.
