Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...

So let's get this straight. GGG is older than Ward. Ward has fought clearly better opposition. Yet Ward is the one challenging himself even more by moving up in weight to fight killers. Why is Ward not lauded for this? Why is GGG not criticized for it?

Discuss.

Probably because of Ward's relatively recent inactivity and his unappealing style.

For the best to keep their status, they must display their talent against solid opposition on a somewhat consistent basis. Otherwise, how are we supposed to determine their present form.

Ward haven't fought anybody at 175 yet, so there isn't much to applaud for. Also, level of Ward's opposition is not that high. One of his best 3 scalps, Abraham, just had a close fight with a victim of Golovkin, Murray, who moved up in weight.

I think that the main reason why Golovkin is way more popular than Ward is that he is an active exciting fighter who produces fun to watch fight, while Ward is semi-retired boring spoiler who needs dirty tactics to beat good opposition.

But he IS going up in weight. When he doesn't have to. He's choosing to because he knows there's nothing to challenge him at 168. GGG knows there's nothing to challenge him at 160 but is content with that.

And please don't discuss level of opponent. Froch and Kessler alone are worlds better than anyone GGG has faced, even if you want to leave Abraham, back when he was in his prime, out of it.

Ward obviously has the greater resume. As for criticizing GGG for not moving up, he signed for Chavez, wanted Froch and was willing to fight Ward. Nothing else there worth moving up for.

-Because all the pacquiao fanboys migrated to the ggg after their hero was humiliated.

-Ward is "boring"

-ggg is exciting

-networks keep shoving it down our throats that ggg is the messiah of boxing and a top 5 p4p fighter...even though ward was named #2 p4p and hasn't lost yet and gone up in competition while ggg is still fighting no names mostly (his only good B level win is lemiux)

-despite ggg's 97k ppv buys, his fanboys accuse ward of not being able to pull numbers...ironically

-ward was on and off inactive due to legal issues and, since he's undefeated, the only thing haters can do is hold that over him even though he's been back over a year and signed to fight the most dangerous fighter at light heavy.

-Ward was criticized for being content t stay at Super middle...even though ggg said he would fight "anyone from 154-168" But added disclaimers later on when Ward and lara called him out. He was willing to move up to fight froch and chavez and move all the way down to meet floyd. He has since changed his stance to unifying the titles even though most people are avoiding him. The irony is that these same dick riding casuals called floyd a cherry picker and not challenging himself and now ggg fanboys have literally told me there is nothing wrong with that.

-Ward isn't charismatic and avoids press...ironic because ggg has less charisma than Wladmir Klitschko. Ggg looks and talks like an honor roll student who does calculus for fun. Nothing wrong with that, but his fans shouldn't be talking.

-ward is black so he automatically has a chip on his shoulder and needs to prove something, despite the dozens of successful black fighters. GGG is a sort of great white hope for some ignorant fans even though he's from Kazakhstan and more Asian than white.

Or it became too hard to make 168 when he fought at 175 in amateurs 12 years ago.

I think it's partially due to Ward being so inactive in recent years, yet still getting recognized by writers as one of the boxing's best P4P. He was on such a high after beating Kessler, Abraham, Froch and Dawson 3-4 years ago, but has done very little since. This doesn't change the fact that he has faced much better opposition than GGG, but people can be fickle that way. Also, it just comes down to styles. Fans tend to like watching GGG more than Ward and thus are more likely to get on Ward's case for not fighting the best opposition available (or barely any at all in his case).

Ward is -900 vs Barrera. What do we think GGG would be against Sullivan?

When Ward has done something impressive at light heavyweight then he will get praise for it.

Yes, Ward is literally (15 pounds) bigger than GGG. Due to the size difference, Golovkin would not be such a big favorite against Barrera.

 Just another stupid thread. Why don't you worry about Barrera and IF Ward ever gets in with Krusher then worry about him. To compare these two is dumb since they are 2 weight divisions apart.

BJS has agreed to fight GGG in 3 years so lets all praise him now, damn BJS is one brave motherfukka.

Froch & Kessler are eurobums, until Ward fans are defending his resume then they are killers.

Abraham NEVER had a prime at 168, he was a good MW that's all, Froch completely shut him out first too and he didn't fight him at home.

Ward had the chance to unify completely 168 but he didn't fancy the job against Bute.

GGG sells out MSG despite being from Kazakhstan, Ward cant sell out his hometown despite fighting their his whole career.

V. Klitschko comes back after 4 years away when he was 37 and fights the hardest possible opponent and WBC champion Sam Peter. SRL took 3 years out with a damaged eye and fought fornicating Hagler! FMJ took 2 years out and came back and fought JMM.... Andre Ward came back after 18 moths (less time out of the ring then anyone else I mentioned) and fought Paul Smith.

Ward has a big name and is lauded as a boxer.

Is it a monumental move for Andre Ward to box at 175 ?
He started his career in 2004 at 165 which isn't that far from the Light Heavyweight limit of 175, he had been in the high 160's prior to recently.

you know what. ward might be better than ggg. same as floyd might be the best boxer since a long time.

but you know what, to me, it just doesnt matter much, cause both are/were super boring and watching boring events is meaningles to me, thats why boring boxers are meaningless to me, therefore this thread.....ups, now he is going to ask why i am than participating n this thread :shame:  :TU:

Because GGG fanboys are just here to blow his sack and not acknowledge the facts, they make every excuse for him not moving up but says nothing about him desiring to move down to face smaller fighters.

Your username shows who is a fanboy here. With Floyd retiring, you are now riding Ward's d!ck which isn't even hard

Ward has better resume.

We'll never really know how good GGG is / was. At 33 surely his best years are behind him, and the lack of eliete opposition throughout his career is staggering. People say "theres nobody at 160" but since he won the WBA title in 2010 the following have been at MW, all of which better at some point during those 6 years than the dross hes faced - Sturm, Martinez, Pavlik, Chavez jnr, Quillin

Other than Pavlik, they all flat refused to fight him.

Yep, and even now he could whup all 5 of the names mentioned. All within a month or two

Telling me in 9 years as a pro his team have been unable to get one big name in the ring, if K2 promotions wouldve really wanted GGG in the ring with one of the big names they wouldve accomplished it. And had all those MWs flat refused big money to fight GGG then why hasnt he gone up to 168 where he'd find plenty of game and tough opponents, or like he has said previously he is able to, down to 154 and fight. Christ, Jack Johnson got a heavyweight world title shot, im sure K2 couldve got him a fight

Lara has been calling him out for 18 months.

Just seems a shame we've never seen the best of him. Its frustrating.

Dont think ive ever seen him tested, at all.

Wish list - ko wade, fight Canelo, then move to 168 and fight De Gale or Jack. Think Abraham would be made for GGG.

Id favour him over all 5 although the Martinez of 2010 still had enough to give him a real tough nights work.

If he can't get Canelo next I'd be happy to see him fight and destroy Lara.
