Couple of big fights lined up for the Scottish boxers in the next couple of weeks.

Brophy 16(1)-0-1 v Groves 22(17)-3(2)-0 April 9th hard fight for David on paper clearly,but a win would propel him right up there.

Simmons v Usyk 9(9) April 24th over in Kiev,for the WBO inter - continental much harder task,can never say never but Usyk ranked no.7 already & only a couple of years in.

Point being are both these lads cashing in,knowing defeats won't finishing them off and they'll still box at area level,or is there managers/trainers/promoters genuinely think they have a chance,opinions??

I know BN thinks the world of Brophy but with power being an obvious issue here how far can he go?

I personally think its cashing in fights.

Both are good fighters and have a chance of winning the british title but both these fights seem like a step too far at this point.

Fair play to them both for taking it, they could have stayed boxing journeymen/Latvians on the top of MGM scotland bills for years to come.

Usyk in Kiev, hope he's getting paid by the job not by the hour. Simmons will do well to get out the first three rounds tbh. Soon as Usyk warms up, Stevie is outta there.

Can't see anything other than a KO win for Usyk. A quick one too, within 3 rounds.

I'll be supporting Brophy but it's a tall order. If he goes in and gives a good account of himself his stock will no doubt rise overnight though.

Usyk has looked the business so far. Tall, technical southpaw and looks to have real power. He will obliterate Simmons as and when he likes. I thought Simmons struggled at times with Camacho and I tipped him to lose to Dickinson. Hopefully he's being well paid for this one.

Really see Groves walking through Brophy. Got a feeling that defeat is harder to come back from than Simmons.

Simmons I can see getting back into the British title mix quickly after Usyk.

nobody will be walking through David mate, David will get a whole lot of new fans after this fight i assure you

The two Scotsmen are being matched very hard here, can't give either any chance of winning personally.
Good on them both for taking such tough fights though, and who knows? One of them may cause an upset, stranger things have happened.

Brophy cant punch (going by his record) and is NOT going to outbox Groves NOT that he will be turning up to lose i believe he will give it his all imo he in a No lose situation, will be getting a decent pay day and can go back and fight for an Area Title.



Simmons is going to get a hiding, been match VERY VERY HARD...

What's the deal on David's punching power Billy? I saw his one and only KO and it was an absolute peach but his record suggests he's not a puncher? I've also heard folk say he hits a lot harder than his record suggests?

Yeah I don't envy Simmons here. Sacrificial lamb!

I like George and I know he has to bed in with a new trainer etc etc but with all due respect to Brophy, who in fairness I know nothing about, I assumed his calibre of opponent would be higher for this fight and I wonder if taking on such an overmatched opponent is a sign that George is in decline and trying to carefully tiptoe his way to the inevitable potentially career ending rematch with DeGale. If George comes through this one easily enough who does he fight next ?

Murray's pencilled in on the Crolla card at the start of May presumably in a tune up fight which could ready him for a July fight with George which could be an eliminator for a world title.

Fielding even if he can beat Rebrasse would still probably be regarded as not a high enough level of opponent to propel George to another world title shot

Ditto Buglione but has he moved up to LH for good ?

Callum Smith's widely tipped for the top and I'm sure George would like to fight him sooner rather than later but is he already regarded as too dangerous ?

I'd never heard of Brophy (sounds like a trophy for Bro's) until this fight was made.

Could be an upset.......
