Regis 'Rougarou' Prograis

Just watched this lad score a 1st round KO over a decent Mexcian fighter named Aaron Herrera (29-4-1).

He's a southpawish fighter who stalks boxers with hands at his waist. Dodges punches with a flick of the head & comes into the ring in a werewolf mask.

Now 17(14)-0. Not sure how far he'll go but I love the way he fights & his panache (is panache still a word :maybe: )

This geezer fights again on the undercard of Porter Thurman.

You know when you see a prospect & you think "This kids got it". Well this was one of those moments for me.

I'm usually wrong though

Here's a clip from his last bout against a 29-4-1 fighter. Won by 1st round KO.

I saw him fight Amos Cowart and wasn't impressed....maybe he's looked better in other fights though.

Thanks for responding :yay:

I just enjoyed the way he stalked his opponent.

I've seen a few performances of his. The jury's still out for me on how good he is, but I look forward to seeing more of him and seeing how he looks against better competition.

I like the stalking too :TU:

I'm sure we've all been there, even if this bloke doesn't turn out to be the goods, about seven years ago I was gushing that Diego Chavez was.going to be a world beater....

Chaves was/is a top level fighter. He just came up against some very good fighters imo.

I just like his style. Even his nickname is cool. It's a French Werewolf.

I thought Chaves was going to be way better, multiweight multi-title better.

He wishes he was the next Robbie Regan.

He's fighting this bloke, a Colombian with a 21(17)-3(0) record. Looks like a typical South American import, big punching but not that good at a higher level - although they can sometimes spring an upset.

Lost to another prospect last time out. Will be interesting to see if Rougarou can better his result.

Prograis won by stoppage. Didn't see it. Or maybe I did. I was f*cking hammered by 9pm last night.

This sounds like a decent bill. Good test for both Prograis & Diaz.

This one slipped under the radar for me. Not sure when it was announced.

Regis Prograis is fighting Viktor Postol - who kayoed Matthysse & went the distance with Crawford - for the WBC Light Welter Title on March 9th.

The fight is held in a casino in Oklahoma which I thought was weird as Prograis is based out of Houston & Postol is Ukrainian. Then I saw the undercard which is that Swedish fella Yigit up against a Belorussian who was born in Russia but now lives in.................................Oklahoma :OhYes:

Tough ask for Prograis. Will be interesting how his style goes up against Postol.

For those who don't know Prograis here's a highlight clip.

What a fight that would be! Can't see it happening for another couple of years though.

Mate, if Taylor does a number on Postol then he's right up there. If he wins, but struggles then he'll have a few more build up fights.

A loss ain't the end of the world though.

But an impressive win will be as good as anyone else at the weight.

Taylor would do well to never mention Prograis name in public. That's not a good fight for him.

We'll see. I happen to think Taylor would banjo Indongo about as quickly as Prograis did, and that is about the only form Prograis has got at the world level? Nonetheless i agree Prograis looks like a beast and a very tough style to take on- I'm thinking the type to beat him is more a Floyd or Crawford type who can outbox him, than Taylor's basically aggressive style. Albeit Taylor is certainly not without skills, my guess is he can do pretty well in more of a boxing style, it's just nobody has pushed him backwards at all so far. Can't see many wanting an arm wrestle with Prograis, or winning one.

This guy is fast becoming one of my favourite fighters. Admittedly I didn't get fully on the bandwagon till the Indongo fight, and though he looked a shell of his former self, I loved Prograis' style.

I was worried that if Ramirez kept avoiding him he'd end up left on the shelf for another year, but his expected addition to the WBSS is gonna lead to some cracking matchups, can't wait!
