Thoughts to Nick and his family. Get well soon.
Dangerous game unfortunately, as much as we like watching it and the boxers like doing it. Here's hoping for a good recovery.

This is good news, I hope he is quickly back on his feet with no long term issues.
It's going to be a real mind bender for him, with his last real memory being in the ring - to wake up in a hospital environment with a couple of hundred newspaper headlines and a million social media good luck messages.
He will likely be unable to walk for a while. Being stuck in bed quickly takes your legs from you.

Sounds like he's going to pull through, though obviously not out of the woods yet.

All the very best, Nick.
I'm sure this is a time when some of us question our devotion to this most brutal of all sports, is it worth the excitement that such honest combat gives us? I remember watching Eubank (snr)/Michael Watson and that was also a real heart in the mouth adrenalin pumping spectatle...
Is it any excuse that you used to do it yourself so took the same risks? I don't know, I just don't know.
I read somewhere that there are more fatalities in motor racing per year than there are in boxing. I don't know if it's true, but it's strange than you never hear anybody calling for a ban on motor racing if it is true.
Is it because that's a rich guy's sport, I wonder?

It's nothing to do with that. When you step into a boxing ring to fight your objective is to do as much physical damage to your opponent as you are allowed to. It's that conscious effort to inflict a beating that some people have a problem with. Very different from car racing.

Where was that donation page? Be great if it could crack a few 100k via social media, to at least secure a house for the lad.

Very sad about this. Blackwell won me over with his hard as nails, fight anyone attitude. The improvements he made as he went along were highly impressive. He would still have had a good future ahead of him IMO despite the loss to Eubank Jnr. He would certainly have capable of winning the British title again and I'd have given a good chance of winning the EBU crown.
He's out of the coma now and the report is it's actually a "bleed on the skull" which I'm hoping is less harmful than a bleed on the brain.
Good luck with the rest of your future Nick and thanks a million for the entertainment you've given British boxing.
