Surely this will be something to do with the B sample?

Reading the various chat going on I stumbled on an interesting claim. That Lucas Browne had a drug test prior to leaving Australia.

Not sure if that is true, and if it is whether Browne took the test voluntarily or not?

Perhaps he took a test before leaving as some kind of insurance if he tested positively over there?

Than again, perhaps it is AVADA's pre-fight test that happened in Australia? Because AVADA claim to have tested Browne before and after the fight.

Boxer Lucas Browne set to produce evidence he hopes will clear his name

From sublime soccer to batting genius, these are the most silly, exciting and downright crazy plays in the sport world this week.

Australian boxer Lucas Browne will go on the front foot against doping allegations on Wednesday as he continues to try and clear his name following a positive test that could cost him his WBA heavyweight title.

Browne became the first Australian fighter to hold a recognised world belt in the division with victory over Ruslan Chagaev in Grozny, Chechnya, earlier this month. That result now stands in doubt about he turned up a positive test for the banned drug Clenbuterol, which can strip weight and add muscle mass.

The 36-year-old has denied knowingly taking the drug and Fairfax Media has already revealed that his camp was in possession of internal testing they believe will clear their fighter. That will likely be produced when the 36-year-old fronts the media in his native Perth.

He has yet to decide whether he will have US-based drug agency VADA test his B Sample but has suggested his food or drink may have been tampered with in the lead-up to the bout. VADA is a reputable body but drug testing can be a murky business in Eastern Europe.

It is believed Browne was tested by VADA just hours after stepping off the plane in preparation for the bout. His camp will contend that test came back clean and it was only a later test that showed signs of the banned drug, which cost Alberto Contador his 2010 Tour de France title.

Clenbuterol typically remains in the system for anywhere between a day to 40 hours so any infringement occurred in the prelude to the fight.

Browne has received support from many fans and fellow fighters, including undisputed heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who said he refused to drink any water not cleared by his camp prior to his upset win over Wladimir Klitschko

I would be surprised if we don't get an update on the B sample. If Browne's team were going to go ahead and have it tested they should have made at least a decision on that by now. Bearing in mind they have to pay for the test and I think be present while it is done.

Browne was tested twice and yet only one of the samples tested positive. They may be looking to push an argument about that inconsistency?

Lucas Browne Won't Pursue B-Sample, But Plans Investigation

http://www.BS.com/lucas-browne ... on--102896

Having been given a full week to mull over various options, Lucas Browne and his team have opted to go the investigatory route in efforts to clear the fighter's name.

Browne was given the option to have the ‘B’ sample tested – with such requests coming at cost to the athlete and/or his team – but instead is looking into the events that took place from the time he touched down in Checnya to fight night itself.

“I made clear to the public last week that I intended to do all that I can to clear my name after the devastating news of the positive drug test following my successful defeat of Ruslan Chagaev for the WBA heavyweight world championship,” Browne said in an embargoed statement through Hatton Promotions’ press office.

“I am now able to report to that on February 29th - shortly after having arrived in Chechnya - I was subjected to a randomly timed drug test by VADA. This was a test of blood and urine. The post-fight test was a urine-only test.

“I would like to again stress it was myself and my team who requested the bout be subject to VADA testing. I now hold clear and unequivocal evidence that this test was a negative test and shows clearly that I arrived in Chechnya a clean athlete. Hatton Promotions have (now) made this information available to the media.”

Australian heavyweight champion Lucas Browne says pre-fight test proved he arrived in Chechnya clean

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-03-30/l ... st/7284846

6 days before the title fight, Browne was subjected to an unexpected blood and urine test by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) and said that test came back negative.

"We have in our possession evidence from VADA that this is the case and this is available for inspection," promoter Hatton Boxing said in a statement.

As a result, Browne will undertake an investigation into what happened between that first test on February 29 — which Browne said "shows clearly that I arrived in Chechnya a clean athlete" — and the fight on March 5.

"Following that clean test I ate only at the hotel in which we were hosted and at the meal following the boxers' media weigh in," he said.

"The water I drank on the night of the fight was sealed bottled water."

"I maintain that I did not knowingly consume any banned substance, including the clenbuterol found in my system in that time," he added.

Browne stressed it was his team that requested the bout be subject to VADA and said he had no issue with the VADA testing.

Hatton Boxing said Browne would not pursue the B sample from the post-fight test as they did not expect it to provide different results.

Boxer Browne investigating positive test

http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2016 ... itive-test

Australia's WBA heavyweight world boxing champion Lucas Browne says his team are investigating how he could have unwittingly ingested banned drug clenbuterol while in Chechnya for his title-winning fight.

Browne said on Wednesday drug testers had confirmed he was a clean athlete after arriving in Chechnya, testing negative six days before the fight with Ruslan Chagaev in the capital Grozny on March 5.

For Browne's team, that is proof the positive test he gave for clenbuterol after the fight was not due to him knowingly taking the drug, and must have got in his system through sinister or accidental means.

Lets wish that Big Daddy can clear his name, and that the mysterious waitress known as "Suzie" was not employed at his Grozny digs to nobble him, just as she had supposedly done to the All Blacks before their 1995 Rugby World Cup grand final.

What crud!. Even if it is proven something suspect went on, I really doubt the WBA will go with it. The best that can happen is the fight will be turned to a NC and a rematch will happen. The worse is being stripped and banned for whatever time.

Whether Browne was nobbled or not it will be next to impossible to prove. Particularly when it occurred in a foreign country where they don't speak English and have everything to gain by not being cooperative.

Even if a rematch is the outcome, who in their right mind would go back there?

And, just because the guy comes across as a 'nice guy' do you believe he didn't take something to get that extra little advantage. I'm not convinced.

I have never been into performance enhancing drugs, so excuse my ignorance but what advantage would taking Clen a few days out or even on the day of the fight give Big Daddy? As far as Im aware it lifts heart rate and body temp and adds in buring excess weight if you use it in a cycled manner 6 weeks on a few weeks off etc ?? An increased heart rate and body temp for a fight wouldnt be an advantage unless is acted as a 'pre workout' to give him an energy spike for 30-60mins as some pre workouts do??

Dunnu,

Dunnu,
Apparently it helps breathing so may stop a fighter gassing but I dunno.

Apparently it's also used as a masking agent, Testing for Clen has become muchmore advanced & can pick up use from longer time frame
