Re: Muhammed Ali vs. Lyle Alzado exhibition (1979)
Yeah, I remember that when it aired live on ABC Wide World of Sports.
Lyle Alzado had previously been an amateur boxer in college (44-1) with 27 consequtive wins in a row.
and he won the Omaha Nebraska region Golden Gloves Champion.
It seemed to me that he didnt really sit down on his punches
and Ali had said after the exhibition something about Lyles chest being too big
to properly throw knock out punches.
I think Alzado may have made this exhibition to help his contract with the Denver Broncos,
because he announced that he wasnt going to turn professional Boxer after this
(and where do you go ,which direction once you had already fought "the Greatest" anyway ?

I think maybe sthey hould have had Lyle Alzado (Denver Broncos)vrs Ed "Too Tall" Jones(Dallas Cowboys) do an exhibition together and the winner faces Ali.
