Jeff 'Candy Slim' Merritt put him on the floor. Footage is floating around somewhere.

Norton and Frazier absolutely brutalised him but neither had him over.
Look at his face once it was stitched up after Frazier. He looks like he was in a car crash and went through the windscreen. He looks like he had around 250 stitches. His wife said of the fight - you wouldn't enter a Volkswagen into the Indy 500 - which about sums up the fight.

Nothing like a loving wife to give a fellow confidence.

Stander had a broken rib when he fought Roy shaw
In roy Shaws book he admitted that stander would of battered him other wise , very honest of Roy to say admit this
even so Roy did put stander down via body shots

It's strange , stander gave Ernie shavers a pasting but never had the same respect

Shavers did have the better career.
The very first fight that I can remember seeing was Stander-Norton; it was on the Ali-Young undercard.
