What did you all think of the stoppage last night?

I don't think the ref could be blamed as he was very clear and the count was slow.

To me it looked like a very lame attempt to pocket the cash and take the easy way out by pretending he mistimed the count. He has even told somebody on FB that he's looking for a rematch.

Realistically I doubt Martin will be out again this year, and I doubt he'll ever be in another fight of significance. Ultimately he lacked heart and it was a cowardly way for a champ in his 20's to give up his title (and I don't use that word lightly when it comes to boxing). It wasn't even as though he was getting beaten up - two flush shots landed and he didn't want to get up. Total non-effort, a pathetic performance.

As for AJ, he did everything right but it's almost impossible to judge the performance given we know no more about the level of opposition than we did beforehand.

He didn't want any more of what was coming. Out of his depth completely. He'll be retired inside 18 months.

He did what was expected of him: Turn up and get turned over.

Did he even throw a punch? It was embarrassing, if anyone doubted he was the worst champ in history before the fight his gutless performance wraps that up.

Yes, I thought so when I watched it this morning. His head is clear and the ref was counting clearly, no other reason than he didn't want any more is there?

Sadly he came for the pay day. Not much more that can be added.

Looked to me like he quit, he didn't fancy it any more and I can't say I blame him.
His inability to use his southpaw stance to his advantage combined with a very weak jab meant he was going to eat right hands as long as the fight lasted, which wouldnt have been much longer even if he made the count.
I'm still surprised that so many people were even giving him a chance in that fight.

The nearer the fight got the more scared he looked. As he entered the ring you could see in his eyes he was petrified.

He reminded me 100% of Audley. I said it walking into the ring he had that terrified look and then when he started 'fighting' he was just the same, that pathetic pawing jab and hesitant look + terrified eyes. Even got the same hairstyle!

I'd have to watch it again but I did think the ref gave him a long count for the first knockdown as well as counting to 10 and letting him rise. I had this horrible feeling he was gonna get waved off then, he was allowed to carry on tho and just make it clear that he wasn't going to win and spare us the calls for a rematch through an unjust stoppage.

That get up he wore for the ring walk. fornicating shameful.

I don't think there's any doubt on this one - Martin could have beaten the count if he really wanted to, but had clearly decided that enough was enough. Not exactly unusual when a fighter realises he's out of his depth.

Of course, he did the classic 'oh man, surely I made it up just in time' gesture after the fight was waved off, just to salvage some fighter's pride, but we all know the score...

Normally a fighter scrambles up to at least take a knee before his head clears to make sure he can get up at 8, but even on the first KD he was just sitting there on his arse.

I don't think we'll see him fight again to be honest.

I still say he took a bung, he didn't look hurt at all.

I didnt think joshua even hit him with full power. If ever a man wanted out of there quick time, he was tha man. Pathetic.

Me either. Whats the point hes made as much in one fight as he s likely to earn for the rest of his career.

Well realisticly ,its just boxing in this day and age , grab a paper champ , defend against mediorcre opposition , milk the gullble out of PPV , pay the fees ,pay the boxers and pocket the rest ,,its happenning every where just that the british promopters are the best at it , the fans in Britain are more gullible , to them its just a night on the piss with there football mates

I was watching it again today, he looked gutted he wasn't counted out after the first KD. After the second he wanted out of there, it's all about levels and he knew he wasn't in the same sport never mind league.
