I enjoyed the Jake La Motta autobiography, Raging Bull. However, after reading the Vikki LaMotta story, it seems that Jake's book is more fiction than fact. I'd still recommend it though.

Schmelings autobiography is great.

The problem with Raging Bull that milpool alluded to wasnt so much that it was fiction but that Pete Savage, who was one of Jakes friends and a former stablemate had been the driving force behind jake writing that book and he used influence in the project to interject himself into the story to such a degree that he never had been. Raging Bull is mostly true but you can basically replace Pete with Joey LaMotta, which is what the movie did to give a more accurate portrayal. With that said I dont know how much faith Id put in Vikkis story. She was no angel herself and there were several parts of her story that you could see she was struggling to justify her actions.
