He's set for life there's no need to fight again, go join Maidana and enjoy retirement. I wouldn't wanna take anymore punches to the head and nor does he by the way he judged both KD's.

Retire with the money he has. He has well over achieved. Long road back and no real point I don't think he will fight again.

If I were running his show I would select Saul Farrah for the next fight and do it in Bolivia. Saul is currently on a win streak and it could be for a regional title to position himself in the rankings go forward. A former world champ, even if it is Martin, going down to Bolivia would be a big thing there. It's an easy win, they could make some money, and they could position themselves better for another decent payday against some top Euro hitter down the road. Nobody will complain about taking a lighter fight coming off a loss and getting a lighter fight for a regional strap is the way to go. Since he can be announced from now on as former champion and only has one loss, he should make sure to make the coin that will be there going forward. Even if he loses in the step up fights, he should be able to get wins in between and cash out at least 3 more decent event checks. I think Farrah is a good solid choice for moving towards another high paying fight in the near future.

If the rumours are true, the most he got paid before the weekend was $250k and now he's just got $8,000,000, why the hell would he fight on for chump change? I doubt he'll come back, he played the game and won, good luck to him. :TU:

He could IF he wanted feast on 3-5 easy beats for the next 18-24 months and Im talking Saul Farah types like the previous poster mentioned. Rack up 6-10 more wins and then no doubt he'll be called for another World title fight or big payday most probably not 8mil but another 1-1.5mil ??

Let's hope he's a sensible lad who uses his new found wealth wisely. Lots of fighters just seem to haemorrhage money like the good times will never end.

With the division starting to get some life back into it that world title is starting to get some value back, plus, Joshua sells in the UK so with a guaranteed amount to put the title up plus a cut of the revenue, Martin got a good dollar for it.

According to someone in the British section a member of team Martin claimed on Twitter that the purse was $3.5m.

Not sure if it's true, but that seems more realistic than $8m, which would be an exorbitant overpayment.

I believe it was 3.56 million pounds ($5 million U.S.) plus a percentage of revenue. Considering Joshua recieved 3 million pounds for his previous fight and the money Froch and Groves made in their second bout it seems realistic.

Very good money for such a poor effort.

He should invest his money wisely and then happily retire.

Not unlike Buster Douglas cashing out his world heavyweight title against Holyfield, although Douglas was much more deserving of holding the title after the fight he put up against Tyson.

The list at the top I'd fantasy stuff. He no way he goes near any of them first up if he doesn't retire

He could rest on his laurels, if you want to call what he has achieved that. If he does he will quickly be forgotten as another of the alphabet champion who held a splinter of the title for a few months.
He could rack up some wins against the usual suspects and then angle for a shot at one of the 5 titleholders. Being an "ex-champion" is going to get him bigger paydays.

Breazeale will be Joshua next. IBF #14 or so, somehow known. And he also needs couple of millions ;-)

Find another profession should be an option. You don't see any swimmers afraid of water do you?

I've really not seen a reliable source for what he earned so far.

If however, it is 5 million or more, then even after tax and paying people off, he's got a couple of million dollars left. That's enough to buy some serious property in many parts of the U.S, and if you were smart, you wouldn't have to work again.

$8 million? Who counted that money? Martin? We now know the guy doesn't know how to count to 10. What a tool bag this guy is.

Charles Martin must be the worst heavyweight champion in boxing history. I can't think of anyone worse.
